Steph Bennion (stephbennion) | 178 comments I'm currently writing a shopping list. I have so far:

Bread
Milk
Cheese
Pasta
Salad stuff
Oranges
Chocolate
Marmalade

While descriptive, I think it's lacking character development and a coherent plot. I'm also not sure of the genre - minimalist literary fiction, maybe? I would offer review copies, but this is as yet unpublished.

Minimalist? That's how I'd describe a shopping list without chocolate chip cookies on it.

Steph Bennion (stephbennion) | 178 comments Well, 'chocolate' covers a multitued of sins, of course. I showed the prequel to staff at my local supermarket and got a good response, though regrettably one of the shopping bags burst on the way home. It added a moment of drama to an otherwise uninspiring episode.

You have a point. I think it's good to establish a narrative framework though, otherwise the story always ends with a basket full of chocolate and Pinot Noir (and little else)...
