Welcome to Venice, Virginia! Population: 14,036
Home to the Lonely Elk!
Wʜᴏ ɪs Mᴀʏᴏʀ Mᴏʀᴇᴛᴛɪ?
Venice, Virginia is ruled by Mayor Moretti. Moretti is Awakenen; but what he is, no one knows. Moretti is one of the few who are not aligned to any Fraction. He knew this time would come; that his quite, quaint, small coastal town had a rather large number of Potentials who would, at some time or another, experience the Awakening that accompanied their First Death. He is a prominent neutral figure in the local Otherworld politics and is an enigma to everyone. To the Sleepers, he's just some 28 year old who runs their town. Many think he is plotting something or that he is an associate with the Dreaming. He is somewhat feared by the newly Awakened, due to the rumors told of him.
Wʜᴀᴛ ᴀʀᴇ ᴛʜᴇ Fʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴs?
There are six fractions: The Thule, The Templar, The Illuminati, The Masons, The Thelema, and The Golden Dawn. These fractions, although at odds with one another, both strive to over throw the Dreaming. The Thule have formerly worked with the Nazi party back in World War Two, and desire to replace the Dreaming as the gods of the universe. The Templar seeks to keep the world of magic obscured from the masses. The Illuminati wish to enlighten others, but are by no means pacifists. The Masons plan to lead America into a new age of magic and glory. The Thelema use their gifts to help mankind. The Gold Dawn are corrupt to the core. There are two other Fractions, to which only humans are allowed: The Inquisition and the Black Hand. The Inquisition are hunters who seek to silence any form of magic. The Black Hand are assassins for hire.

Poor soul, only a teenager; no longer a child, but not quite an adult... Whether you committed suicide, killed in a hate crime, or simply met your end by some accident, the point is that you DIED. But you didn't stay dead. You got up, crazed and insane, and for the next two hours did who-knows-what. Then you came to, and depending on what you are now, you were either deathly hot or deathly cold. And you knew. You knew that the world you lived in was a lie, and there was so much more to it: unicorns, dragons, Edens and lost lands hidden beneath the seas. You knew that magic existed, and there were things that go bump in the night - and you just became one of them. So you ask around, now able to identify those like you by Flickering, making your eyes glow - if someone's eyes glow back in response, hey, you just found a fellow Kindred. Of course, Mages and Awoken also possess glowing eyes, they just don't have the same color pallet as Otherkin do. And so you strike up a conversation and maybe, just maybe, an agent will over hear, or the Kin might already be aligned to a Fraction. You learn of the Fractions and you may seek them out, or one might come to you. Once recruited, you are bound to them and can not work with other Fractions.

But you're a teenage rebel, aren't you? Breaking the rules and lending others your ear...and they offer you one chance to betray your Fraction. When this chance arises, this is the only time you will be able to change sides. If you choose not to, your connection to that fraction is cut off and they are your enemies. This chance will appear only one - not once per Fraction - so make sure that if you think you might want to leave your current Fraction, play nice with one you think you might like joining. But be careful, if you are caught conspiring with other Fractions, other members of your current Fraction can rat you out or straight up kill you, if they can provide evidence to their superiors that you were a traitor. So stick to the shadows, for they have served as our cover for eons. Use your new abilities and exploit this town to your own ends, just see to it that you also follow orders. It's kill, or be killed; always remember that. Farewell, and good luck. You'll need it.

Hɪsᴛᴏʀʏ & Mʏᴛʜᴏʟᴏɢʏ
In the beginning, there was only Dryghten. He was Creation. He created Time, but before Time could do anything, before the Creator could make the universe, he needed a finite realm. So he moved and made Space. Here, he rose up Earth, then the Ocean to support it, suspending it above Space, which then became the Abyss of the Deep. Creation brought forth Sky and Heaven and placed him above Earth. The land above Sky was Space and the land below Earth and Ocean was the Underearth.

Earth and Sky brought forth the Sun and the Moon, who were also Day and Night. Together, these two brought forth a myriad of Stars and other Planets. Sea and Space coupled and other gods were born. But the Earth was barren and dry, so Life, second eldest only to Time, who was yet unseen, began to move. She caused the Sky to yield forth Weather, rain and wind fell upon the Earth and formed it. The Ocean's waves that graced the coasts and the Sky's rain that came down watered the lands and brought forth Fertility to Earth. The gods then took the wet soil and clay and formed beings, into which Life breathed the Soul - which was an extension of Dryghten himself.

The last creation was Man and Woman. The gods made many clans of humans, and blessed then with gifts above all the other animals. They lived in harmony with one another and with nature. Time began to move the spheres above, causing the seasons to change. They drew close to each other and took their consorts to warm themselves in the cold and dark days. It was around this time that Life spied Time alone, moping and brooding about in the shadows of the wilderness. Time believed it was not praised by the Humans like the other gods were. Nor was it welcome among them. Earth had Sky, Sun had Moon, Sea had Space and the Underearth. But Time? Time was alone.
