Lori (lorilovesbooks) | 350 comments What books do you want to be our group read for November. Remember we do two; a contemporary read and a non contemporary read. You can nominate one book for each category. At the end of October look for a poll where you can vote for the nominations.

Books that are part of a series where the first book must have been read to understand the second cannot be included UNLESS the group has read the first as a group read. The book must also be available by the first of the month.

If the book you suggest isn't obviously NA in the synopsis please add why you consider it to be NA (characters, ages, etc.) If it seems to us to be YA or Adult it won't be included as a group read so it is really important to let us know your thoughts.

Lori-- in FIELDER'S CHOICE, Book 3 of the Tavonesi Series (each book can be read as a standalone), my heroine, Alana Tavonesi, is a carefree, 23 year old heiress, partying in Paris when she's told she has inherited her grandmother's precious olive ranch in Sonoma, California. She's not ready to leave her partying life behind, but she feels she owes it to her grandmother to at least get the place into the right hands.

When Matt Darrington, the hot, All-Star short stop for the Giants shows up for a tour, she's intrigued. But when she discovers he has a kid and the wife/mother is dead…. not for her. But the pull of the ranch, Matt, and his daughter show Alana the power of pure love.

I'd love to get this group's feedback on FIELDER'S CHOICE, but realize that it might not be ok to nominate my own book, so I'm floating the idea here to get your suggestions.

Profiterole | 1 comments I suggest Slightly out of Tune by Idir Aitsahalia, about a brilliant college student who does not fit in socially on campus and gets suspended without understanding why. I just read it and was really taken by it. The main message is that social awkwardness is not a crime.

Here is the book description from Amazon:
The current generation's best and brightest "live and learn" on Northport University's picturesque Ivy League campus— a mosaic of talents, creeds, and skin colors united in their desire to make the world a better place. Senior Jason Curran is the epitome of the Northport student: an Australian martial artist who speaks fifteen languages and majors simultaneously in Neuroscience and Engineering. Yet all his life Jason has been slightly out of tune with the world outside of him. Northport is no different: if he is a perfect fit on paper, the brilliant but reclusive student does not fit in on campus, whose hidden social curriculum he fails to navigate, instead focusing obsessively, and alone, on a mysterious project. Overnight, Jason's orderly life is thrown upside down when Northport abruptly and inexplicably suspends him based on grave allegations. Can he restore his reputation and overcome his social isolation, which is brought to a whole new level by these accusations? Turmoil, romance, exotic locations, and a relentless investigation by a determined Northport Dean are all brought together in Jason's thrilling multi-continent quest for understanding, invention, redemption, and the realization that social awkwardness is not a crime.

I don't think this is New Adult.

This sounds good, but more contemporary than NA.

I added this to my TBR, but I think it sounds contemporary. What age is the main character?

The heroine of FIELDER'S CHOICE is a 23 years old partying heiress who grows up fast when love comes her way. A coming of age theme.
