Jess waited for th hat's decision on where she would be put. She wasn't nervous the least bit. She stood tall and proud. She took a lot of time on the train just think of what house would become hers. She somewhat hoped to be in the same as her mother, but she would be happy no matter what house she got.

The Hat stayed silent, even after a minute of sitting on the girl's head. It sifted through the girl's memories, looking at defining moments in her life thus far, as well as the times that had made her smile, settling on one in particular of Jess and her mother.

[ Would you mind supplying a memory? ]

[ Sure ]

Jess sat there waiting as a memory came to her head. She was setting with her mom looking at the stars. She was about seven. Her mother, Grace talked about how the lion Leo meant bravery, and said she was brave and strong.

[ Try not to force my hand with the Hat's choice if you can avoid it! ]

[ In this case however... ]

Ah yes, it remembered Grace. A lovely witch, she had been. It seemed she had since passed on, which was too bad. But her daughter... "Gryffindor!" the Hat finally shouted.

Jess nodded as the hat was pick up off her head as the next person was called on. She made her way to the table with her house name and the other students.
