For a short story, Just One Day. What's not to love? A spaceship, a black hole, time travel, and, yes, zombies! For series, Adrian's Undead Diary, A Very Good Man, and Zombie Rules.
Maybe not a traditions Zombie story but I loved the short story by Robert Block called "A Case of the Stubborns".
Randy wrote: "Wow. I found Zone One to be snoozer."I've always wished the author would delve into horror again, but I think (??) that's the only horror novel he's ever written. (Off to check.....).
I started reading this series and need to get back into it as I really liked the first two books. Here is the first book that starts it off:
by Bobby Adair
My list starts off with an underrated series:
by David Moody, is just a great story. We see them from the beginning and its horrible. Great story telling.
by Jonathan Maberry is excellent. It is in the YA section; but the story is anything but, IMO. Violent, crazy and this story intersects with Joe Ledger. Woot!Speaking of Joe;
. Yeeahhh, the good old strain of zombie created by a madwoman and released to unsuspecting good folk. Good stuff.
by Joe McKinney is awesomely dead. This is just book One; things happen quickly.
by Robert Kirkman, is actually a great comic/graphic novel series. The dead kill off a lot of characters before you get to love them real good. In the TV show, the main characters actually live for like "years".... not the comics. They die off quickly except for Rick and Cooorraaalll. I have a few more, but these are the tops. :)

I didn't like that one as much as the 2nd book;
. I do love it and cannot wait for book 3.

[bookcov..."#1 is on my tablet TBR, I am looking for #3, and have read all the others. You have good taste.
I'll have to admit I'm burned out on zombies, some of my favorites though are

, and am looking forward to

[bookcover:Rot & Ruin|7..."Thanks! Evidently we have similar tastes.😊 Love my zombie world!😄
I really enjoy the Zombie Fallout Series by Mark Tufo, altho I mostly listen to the audiobooks. It's a zombie series with some vampire thrown in and definitely not your typical zombies. It contains many different types of zombies
I listened to a lot of Mark Tufo. I think his narrator, Sean Runette, doesn’t sound right for his books, but they’re unique & a lot of fun.
I recommend Joe McKinney's zombie novels, starting with Dead City. Very enjoyable old school Romero zombies.I started The Rising and just hated it, though I guess I'm the only one.
I haven't yet read Romero's The Living Dead, but am really looking forward to it.

I've read all those except The Rising! They're good.
The Living Dead is excellent! 4 stars!
While not your typical zombies, I loved the Hater series.Coldbrook was a better zombie book I was pleasantly surprised by.
I love zombie books. Thanks for posting these. I look forward to checking out Rot and Ruin. I'm a big fan of Mark Tufo. A fun series is Sheriff Penny Miller by Steven W. Booth and Harry Shannon.
I started reading a new zombie series this year and the first book was excellent. I need to read the rest of them as they are simmering on my kindle. lol The Fall of Man by Jeff DeGordick
Thanks for the suggestions I'm looking at them now. Two other series that I like are < a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1..." > Until the End of the World< /a> by Sarah Lyons Fleming. And < a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1..." > As the World Dies< /a> by Rhiannon Frater
If you want to post direct links to GR pages for books, click the "add book/author" link above the comment box and enter the name in the search field. You can choose whether you just want to hyperlink or add the book cover by using the radial buttons at the bottom of the pop up window.

You may want to start with Dead of Night which is the same universe, but the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse.
Those series are also in the same universe as the Joe Ledger books which start with Patient Zero!

It's been a while since I've read the Hater series, but they have a way of sticking with you. Definitely recommend them.
@Alan thanks for the tip of adding hyperlinks. I was definitely doing it the hard way.@Ian(RebelGeek) Thanks for the suggestions I am going to check them out now.
Dread NationZombies in the past is something I haven’t read about before but would really recommend this book
Covers topics in the US’ history e.g. slavery
Really worth reading
Badass FL
Dread Nation has been on my Want to Read list for a while. I really liked Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (the movie) plus Pride & Prejudice & Zombies (the movie), so I'll probably enjoy DN.
I have only read the first book in the series, but I liked it.
VERY light read, but so enjoyable
Not every book deals with "zombies," but I have read every book in the Joe Ledger Series because they re just a good read.
Steampunk Zombies. Yes, Please!
This won't be for everyone, but I'd never read a "Pick Your Own Path" style book before and ended up having so much fun with this one. Cleverly written, chock full of pop culture references and thoroughly enjoyable whether you want to read it in one and done or go back and take the (zombie) roads not travelled. Can You Survive The Zombie Apocalypse? by Max Brallier

Not ..."I've read (listened to) most of Mark Tufo & Jonathan Maberry!
I'm definitely listening to Boneshaker soon!
I'm really interested in Autumn, but I can't find audio.

I really need to read some of Mark Tufo and Jonathan Maberry. And Boneshaker is great! One of my favorite steampunk books
I'm still waiting for a complete and unabridged WWZ audiobook. I think the updated one is still missing some things. And the WWZ movie, don't know who thought that was a good idea. It begs to be a mockmentary miniseries on Shudder or Syfy or something.
Over time, I've grown to really like the WWZ movie as its own thing but when it first came out I raced to cinema to see it and as someone who loved the book, I was bitterly disappointed and wondered why the hell they even bothered giving it the same title and giving the author any money when it had so little to do with anything from the book. I'd definitely love to see an episodic adaptation of the book, so many cool scenes and stories just begging to be shown!
