What is one (or more!) book that you've read where the plot or setting or characters have stayed with you years after you put the book down. Bonus points if you can say why it struck you so intensely :)

Harry Potter Series. What I have always admired is the smallest detail, what seems insignificant intertwines with books later on. such as Ron's rat 'Scabbers' who for the first few books is just Ron's rat that's been in the family for years, a mangy rat who's missing a toe. But that smallest detail slaps you in the face and the littlest detail comes into play later on in the books.

I also love 'The Silver Linings Playbook' by Matthew Quick. Great characters, felt like a voyeur reading the thoughts of Pat Solatano who suffers from Bipolar Disorder, the book is written in a first person point of view, and that grasped my attention quickly, as we feel Pat's thoughts and how he reasons with what and why he does the things he does. You want to slap him silly to start with, but with the introduction of Tiffany (who quite frankly is as messed up as he is) they are chalk and cheese, but Pat's changing, he doesn't really understand it, but as the reader you see it unfolding before your eyes. You have to love Pat..he's honest and real.

One of the books that sticks with me is The Eight by Katherine Neville. Read this book at least 3 times. I think the mix of history, adventure, suspense all rolled into one.

Abigail | 32 comments The ProphecyThe Prophacy by Hiliry Bell.

I've never forgotten the prince who wanted to be a scholar, the bard, who had a roving eye and the unicorn who fainted at the mention of anything dangerous. Oh, and there is Sam, a talking sword who has lots of tales to tell.
