This novel is the second part of Butler's Xenogenesis series, which features an alien race, called the Oankali. One feature that sets the Oankali apart is that, although they have livestock, they do not eat them and will not let others eat them either, which was explored in our August read, Dawn.
As with Dawn, Adulthood Rites is split into parts, so the discussions will be too. In the meantime, here you can share your general thoughts on the novel.
