I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I usually have a hard time with the wordiness and heavy handed moralizing of 18th century novels. But, this was not all that wordy. I was surprised to see the use of dialect so well conveyed. And, I thought the cautionary parable of the dangers of religious certitude and self-righteousness is still relevant.
