And once you have read Leather, if you feel it would be something this group would enjoy reading, I will be happy to throw at future giveaways.

Thanks so much, Tom. As I pointed out on the Bizarro Fanboys and Fangirls group on Facebook, you author-y types can donate or even discount PDFs and Kindle versions, too. We don't have to have hard copies (although people are always more interested in hard copies). It seems to me that when an author donates, say, 5 copies of a PDF, it encourages a group read amongst the people that win.
Another idea is to do R4R- a "Read for Review" in which an author donates x amount of books in some format or another, and the first x amount of people that request the book receive the book in exchange for an honest review. The other group I'm active in does this and if the person doesn't review the book within 4 weeks, they can NEVER win again. Which is exactly why I've never done one. I'm always afraid something (i.e., fucking LIFE) will prevent me from reading and reviewing the book in the allotted time frame. But we could always tweak those rules to be a little more lenient, but still not so lax that people just keep getting free books over and over. And I know reviews are tough sometimes; I've got about 20 that I need to write (but probably never will because of the above-mentioned 'life' getting in the way). Sometimes its hard enough to find time to read, let alone write out a lengthy review. As it is, I have about 30 books I've ordered directly from the authors that I feel kinda rushed to read and review. Then I just take a deep breath, remind myself that I paid for the books (well, most of them, at least), and that I can take my time. I'll get to them all sooner or later! That's why I'm not sure how this 'contest' will go over. People don't like to have to 'do something' to win. I hope in garners some interest. If not, I'll have to think of something else...

Yep! I guess I shoulda specified that whether you donate to the indie-go-go OR purchase the book from Dynatox Ministries, you're eligible. Because either way, the proceeds go to Raye.
And I should specify that you don't have to order directly from the publishing company for option A. You can just order through Amazon or wherever you purchase your books.
And fuck it...if it springs more interest, international Bizarros are welcome to enter!

AWESOME! Sounds terrific, guys. And just to clarify a bit, you only have to do ONE of the above options. I'm thinking about making a person eligible for multiple entries, depending on how many things they do. Like, if a person does all 4 options, do you all think that person should get 4 entries, plus a bonus for being so damn awesome? And if someone does option A. then reads and reviews the book they bought, give them 2 entries for fulfilling 2 tasks? Would that motivate people more? I just SOOOOOOO don't want this to be a bust!

I think a point for how ever many they do. So multiple entries if they do more than one. Also, where are we posting these challenges?

Athena, if you review Babes in Gangland once it reaches you, you can come to this thread and post the review here so I can see it, or PM me. Same with the listmania. And, same with the ordering...just PM me an order confirmation or whatever. If you do the Hamsters For Raye thing, I do believe she's offering a personal thank you to each donor, so send me confirmation of that and I'll forward your info to her (that's a definite win- $25 bucks for a copy of a charity anthology AND a personal thank you PLUS a chance to win these two books? Sounds pretty tantalizing!).
And even though its tempting, I think I'll leave the contest with just one entry per person for the moment. I just don't want to exclude anyone that doesn't have the cash flow to buy or donate. But that very well may change. Depends on how many people are interested. Right now we only have 3-4, I believe...

That's fine...I'm thinking like any reviews within the past 3 months or so. I know you're pretty new to Bizarro, and I love it that you're digging it so much. I just know you'll appreciate Babes in Gangland. Let me know when you get it and we'll buddy read it :-)

It's good to see everyone in this Hamster Anthology. And all the people who want to smell the pages.
Hop to, guys!!! So far, only Rodney, Athena & Erika are vying for these books! Not much of a competition! I guess limited edition, sold out rare books aren't that much of a commodity, eh? ;-)

I'm eagerly awaiting as well, Joel! I can't wait to get my hands on those two books!!! Maybe we can buddy read them when we both get our copies!
And Erika, I put an end date of November 1st, but it can be much more flexible. Like you, I know there are a lot of people that definitely qualify. I just can't seem to get more activity going on this page for the life of me! I guess most Bizarros aren't very structured, but my OCD makes me yearn for organized book of the month readings and quarterly challenges and buddy reads and promos and, and...well, you know, stuff like that. Stuff that helps the authors AND helps us bond as readers and have serious discussions about silly ass books. My hope was that these giveaways would draw people into the Bizarro genre. And I also know there are people on Goodreads that aren't on Facebook, and it would be fucking AWESOME if we could get the shyer, lurky, anti-social type Bizarros as active over here as on FB. Since stuff isn't as focused around personal lives, but rather books we all love, I'm still hoping our activity will pick up. Anyway ramble ramble ramble- long story short, share away! It ain't over 'til it's over, baby! (Oh, and as for that post in the Bizarro Fangirls and Fanboys about a copy of Steve Lowe's 'Samurai VS ROBO-DICK' for a lucky random person that buys an NBAS from this year, well, feel free share the shit outta that one, too!)

I recently purchased Hamsters! And Death Warp from Dynatox. Also I donated to the indiegogo already :)
But only if its okay as I am in Australia. :p
That's fine! I know it'll cost me a little more to ship to Australia, but I DID say international, too! I know there's been so many people that ordered Hamsters! & Death Warp....we should buddy read those titles when everyone gets theirs! Its so weird that Donald and I had so much more success with Bizarro Buddy Reads in a non-Bizarro group! :-P
(Oh, and the reason I hardly ever 'reply' to specific Goodreads m
posts is because I have no idea how to do it on my phone. I have faith you're all smart enough to know who I'm answering and whatnot!)

I'd be so into a buddy read but usually I get my books way after everyone else because international shipping is so slow :p
HA! I bet you guys thought I forgot about this, huh? Well, think again! Today's the day, and there's only like 5 people interested. Not exactly the turn-out I was hoping for, but whatever. It is what it is. Anyway, I'm gonna let this sit here until midnite and then I'll pick a winner from the magical goblet. Hopefully, we can get a few more names in that goblet before the day is over!
Hello to you, Rodney. Yes, the magical goblet HAS, indeed, spoken, and it actually spoke YOUR name! Sorry to keep you waiting for so long. I didn't do anything but sleep yesterday. Anyway, I'm glad you checked back in to kick me in the pants to make the announcement. Sorry to everyone else! Maybe next time. There's going to be a giveaway soon for Steve Lowe's 'Samurai VS. ROBO-DICK,' so keep your eyes open for that. Thanks for being good sports, guys!
Rodney, PM me your address so I can get them shipped out. Thanks again!

Erika, I've got my fingers crossed you find the penis-dog from the Ladybox! It woulda been awesome to win that one! Although I think that woulda probably put me in duplicate mode with a couple of the books. Anyway, good luck to you, chick!

Confessions of the Impaler (other topics)Mother, I'm Not an Android (other topics)
Okay folks, I got a giveaway the likes of which haven't been seen. Its more of a challenge, hence the title. See, I like to know that people who win the books are actually going to read them, whether they end up loving or hating them. Sooo, for this 'challenge,' I'm putting up for grabs two books by Vincenzo Bilof, both published through Dynatox Ministries. I'm giving away Confessions of the Impaler (limited edition- #36/50) & Mother, I'm Not an Android (limited edition- #20/50). These are books not everyone will have due to their limited copies, and they should go to someone who will actually cherish them rather than sell them on Amazon a week after they get them.
Also, they're coming from my own personal library, so I'm sorry, but no international contestants (I'm not made of money, damnit!)***THIS HAS BEEN CHANGED IN HOPES OF GAINING MORE INTERESTED PARTIES- INTERNATIONAL ORDERS ARE FINE!!!*** Anyway, here's a few different ways you can win:A.) buy a book from a Bizarro publishing house (Dynatox, Strangehouse, Rooster Republic Press, Lazy Fascist Press, Raw Dog Screaming Press, Bizarro Pulp Press, Riot Forge, Atlatl, Grindhouse, Eraserhead Press, etc) and show me your order confirmation (the way I see it is that if you're willing to spend 10 bucks buying a book, you must have some appreciation for the genre).
B.) Write up a review on a Bizarro book you've read recently (if you don't have access to that many Bizarro books due to the library not having them or lack of funds, let me know, and I can Kindle lend them to you. Or better yet, I think I know a couple writers that would be more than happy to donate a PDF as a copy review; just PM me)
C.) Donate anything to Hamsters for Raye. Details here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ha...
This shows how close knit us Bizarros are- we try and help each other as much as possible
D.) And here's one for those of ya that are about as broke as I am and can't afford to buy/donate: make a listmania list of your favorite Bizarro books for this site and Amazon. Make the name as intriguing as possible, & try and include a best seller like Harry Potter or Gone Girl even though they're not Bizarro, that way the lists will pop up more frequently because people are constantly searching for those books, and if we can give it an interesting enough title, people that click on the list just might buy a Bizarro book.
I know this challenge might seem a little tough, but they're limited edition books from MY library, for fuck's sake! I want them to go to someone that'll be super excited to have them. So anyone that can fit one of the above parameters will be entered to win, and I'll do a random drawing on November 1st, that way any interested parties have enough time to work on their entry. If there's only one entry, its an easy win. I certainly don't expect to be drawing through 20-30 names like I did for the last two giveaways! Although it would be fucking awesome if we did get that many entries!!!
I'd like some feedback here, though. Is this too hard? I mean, these authors bend over backwards to help their fans, and have always made time for my silly little questions. They're nice enough to donate books for giveaways, and are very approachable. I kinda feel like the very least we could do is show them how much we appreciate them back by helping to promote their work, be it through sales, reviews, donations, or listmania lists. Let's spread the love to the authors that love us so much!
Drop a line here letting me know if you plan on participating. If this is a total bust, and no one wants to work for a set of free, limited edition Dynatox Ministries releases, I'll figure out a different way to do this giveaway...
Thanks guys! Now get to work! ;-)
