This long table stretches down the Great Hall, on the far left side of the room (if you were facing the front/professors' table).

Jess took her seat at the Gryffindor table. She was good a making friends and standing tall against many bullying situations. Her mother taught her to never let someone tell you how to do something you shouldn't nor want to do, just to be herself.
Cara looked around wide eyed. She had never seen so much food before in her life.
Jess never ate much even though she was hungry. It was out of old habit she guessed. Her mother and her would get food and spilt it to share.
Cara noticed the girl sitting next to her wasn't eating much. "Aren't you hungry?" she asked.
Jess was surprised by the new voice. "Oh...um...yes but…it's a long story." She never liked explaining why she hardly ate much. She promised her mom she would be normal so she decided to eat normal proportion of food.
"Ok" Cara replied not wanting to push the other girl, "So what's your name?"
"I'm Cara, Cara MaCain" Cara said smiling. She was glad for someone to talk to maybe they could be friends.
"Glad to meet you." Jess smiled as she started eating. Her mother was poor so she never had much in life.
"So Gryfindor huh, you know anything about it? It seems like a pretty cool house, but the hat's song was the first time I heard of it." Cara asked the other girl, Jess.
"Gryffindor is for bravery. Our symbol is the lion." Jess smiled as she remembered her mother telling her.
"Oh that's cool I love lions" Cara said trying to start a conversation, "What's your favorite animal?"
"I love wolves and lions." Jess shrugged. She liked how the were kind animal unless feeling threatened.
"That's cool" Cara said, then she looked surprised at something behind Jess's head, "Whoa".
"Are those Ghosts" Cara asked the other girl.
"Yea, each house has a main one. Our is Sir Nicholas." Jess smiled as she remembered her uncle telling her before she left.
"Okay" Cara said sounding uncertain, "That's not strange at all"
"Doesn't all this seem strange to you?" Cara asked, "the wands and the talking hats. I was raised to believe that all of this was simply childish nonsense. Yet here it is."
"No, I was actually raised in this world. My mother was a witch." Jess smiled, "it took my father awhile to understand."
"Oh" Cara replied, "I suppose I have a lot to learn, you probably know how to do all sorts of spells already." Cara turned her head to look down at her food.
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that," Cara said then to change the subject she asked, "So what classes are you most excited for?"
"I can't wait for care of magical creatures" Cara said smiling, "I love animals."
Cara smiled glad to have made a friend. She picked up her fork and began to eat.
