It's about a young boy, Jackson, who is a savant and has unexplained episodes of catalepsy (trances.) His mother worries that he is seeing demons that she used to see as a child, but she keeps her fears to herself since she has always denied her paranormal experiences.
The family moves, and the mother, Clarice, discovers this Eden like paradise in the woods. About the same time, the boy becomes the target of a Satanic cult, and the parents are clueless as to why people are suddenly trying to kill their son.
The story has something for everyone, a mysterious nanny, a rabbi who wields the ancient power of Tzaddik, an old hermit monk, who understands the purpose of the boy, and the evil cult leader, who will do anything to find and kill the child.
