dreaмcнιld | 79 comments Laylan walked though the mahogany door, and into the dusty old shop. His grandfather, who he wished was with him, told him about Ollivander's, and how it was a dusty old shop. His father was outside and smoking his pipe. It was common to see him smoke. Laylan glanced around as he made his way to the wood counter.

There was always more cleaning to be done in this shop. "Well hello there," she cheerily greeted the boy at the counter. "Off to Hogwarts, I presume?"

dreaмcнιld | 79 comments "Yes ma'am. I'm Laylan Kinkad." He approached the counter. Trying not to make a mess or get into trouble with his father, he carefully maneuvered around the dusty old shop.

dreaмcнιld | 79 comments Laylan nodded and picked the wand up gracefully. He seen both his father's and sister's wand, but this one was much different and maybe even his. He had given the wand a flick of his wrist towards a pile of unstacked papers. The papers moved slightly in a stack.

This box was a dark emerald green color, velvet-like in texture, it's color faded behind a layer of dust where it had been exposed to the air. She nodded to the box, meeting Laylan's blue eyes.

dreaмcнιld | 79 comments Laylan hap put the first wand back in its box and watched the women get another for him to try. He took the second wand out like the first. He looked at the afroed woman then at the wand as she gave another flick of his wrist. He didn't really know what he was supposed to be doing but that pile of papers turned into a neat stack.

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» | 331 comments The mildly-eccentric witch clapped her hands together in great excitement. "Lovely!" she beamed. "Just lovely!" She took the wand back from the boy, examining it to be sure it was indeed what she thought it was. "Ah yes. Apple and Phoenix feather. This is one made by the late, great Ollivander. It has been sitting around here for... who knows how many years, waiting around for... For you, I suppose!" It pleased her greatly to see it finally select a wizard. "Treat it well, and it will protect you in kind." She placed the wand back in it's box with great care and returned the lid to its place. That will be six and half galleons, young Laylan." Yes, an interesting wand indeed. Apple and Phoenix feather, ten and one eighth inches long, supple. Receiving the coins from the boy, she waved him on his way, her mind still musing over the interesting experience.
