Horror Aficionados discussion

Anyone want to recommend a good horror book for me to read this fall= perhaps something off the beaten path. I read lots of zombie books a few years ago, I have been through most of King's work- I like werewolves and haunted houses, but doesn't have to be that genre- Some of my favorites are- Ghost Story, It, World War Z, Bird Box, Wolfen, and Devil's Rock!

IMO, coming of age horror is the best of the genre, and perfect for Fall. I recommend Boy's Life, Summer of Night, and Something Wicked This Way Comes. All are excellent.

Ghost Story is perfect for the fall..why don't you try David Case's The Fengriffen and Pelican Cay?

There's also Winter People by Jennifer Mcmahon...small town horror.

I'll look into those- thanks! Yeah, a part of me is thinking I should just read Ghost Story again!

Summer of Night was already marked "want to read" (I don't remember doing that)

Haunted houses? Hell House (oldie but so goodie)
Halloween season will come quickly than we think and I highly recommend The Halloween Children (it's a blast)

The October Country by Ray Bradbury

This used to be off the beaten path, but maybe not since it's been reissued by Penguin: Haunted Castles

Have you read ? Good variation on a Bradburyian October.

The Harrowing
Not great, but entertaining and it takes place over the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S.
