Child Abuse Victims discussion

It's wonderful to see students discussing books on topics like this which are, sadly, a reality in so many homes. I read your blog posts and see you raised the question of remaining silent. You might be interested in knowing that i am a 68-year old woman who was sexually abused by her own biological father from ages 11 - 24 but I told no-one until about 3 years ago. That was the first my husband of 40 years had heard of it too. My daughters and he encouraged me to write my story to help others. I did that, and recently won a gold medal for my book, NO TEARS FOR MY FATHER. I am just about to launch my follow-up/continuing story, LEARNING TO LOVE MYSELF, which covers the years of recovery and self-discovery through love of husband and children, and will give other victims hope that there can be a life after sexual abuse. Good luck to all of you with your project. No Tears For My Father

Zahara and Viga,I am so glad that books like these are coming out. I finally got the courage to publish my book on child abuse and a subsequent eating disorder. It is here: http://www.amazon.com/Naughty-Girl-Ho...
I tried to show how abuse can be passed on through the generations, and also how it can stop. Beyond My Body is a very personal, intimate story about how I reacted to the sexual abuse, and has 50+ reviews and a 5-star rating on Amazon. It is so hard to talk about these things, especially when it happened by family members who are still alive. But we are doing a good thing in writing about the issues.
I wish you bot the best!
Thanks so much Holly. I'm honored. Brace yourself though. I don't waste words and tell it like it is. Can be a bit hard for some readers. Viga
My book is PG- but it's still a journey. I found myself struggling to find spots for the reader to take a breather. I did put them in though, because my story is intense too. But the best part of the journey... being able to encourage other survivors.
Hi Holly! *waves* Viga, I've talked with you before I think, earlier this summer. Both of your stories touched my heart, and make me realize how sad and prevalent child abuse really is. I've never gone to a support group, so this GoodReads board is the closest I've come to other survivors. It really does break my heart. :(
Dear fellow survivors and those interested in the life of a child sexual abuse survivor. I have very recently published the memoirs of my horrendous childhood and would very much appreciate some feedback. I am a new author and writing my book was therapy for me, it helped me face what happened to me and move on from my past. Here it is on Amazon for those interested A Sheep Amongst Wolveshttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Sheep-Amongst...
Good luck with your book Assunta and congratulations to you on having the courage to write your own story of abuse. I may purchase it later but right now I have 5 books awaiting my reviews. I must do those first. Viga Boland

In my English class a few other students and I created a blog on two books that deal with child abuse. If you`re interested, please check it out! I would appreciate any feedback.
