Ready Player One was fantastic. I've always liked Brave New World over 1984. My absolute favorite novel is Mockingbird by Walter Tevis. I also like Ender's Game and Starship Troopers. My favorite genre is scifi and I could list great novels for days, but I think those would be my top picks. Welcome to the group :)
Well, I think my answer is cliche but my favorite is and always will be Harry Potter. It was the first saga I've read and I was obsessively in love with the story.
Harry Potter series
Game of Thrones series
Vampire Academy series
Lunar Chronicles
Lux series
The Host
Hush Hush series

I would have to say that beyond a doubt, my favourite fantasy books are "The Banned and the Banished" series. I loved them! They are amazing books by James Clemens, and I couldn't put any of them down once I started the first one.
I have many books in mind that, in my books (haha see what I did there), are considered science fiction1984-George Orwell
Fahrenheit 451- Ray Bradbury
I see you said "off the beaten path". Ima have to go with Mistborn. I had dreams I flew off of copper coins ever since reading this trilogy.
Last month I read my first sci-fi Collective Mind and so as it's the only one so it's the best one))

New to this group, and wanted to get out there and ask what would you consider to be the best science fiction/fantasy book you've read? Maybe one that's "off-the-beaten-path"? I'm curious as to what books I've yet to still hear about!
I'd say mine are:
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
1984 by George Orwell
