I'll go ahead and state that the spoiler tag restriction will be lifted on Sunday, Sept. 15th.

Alright, so I'm done with the book and it's relatively good considering I didn't like the previous Deadmen books. I do have some minor complaints but Vala and Xuri make a good couple and they aren't as bland as the previous protagonists of the other two books.

(view spoiler)[Adarian is in this book a fair bit, and there is some interesting info on the Malachai and Thorn's wife, Shadow makes a small cameo, apparently he and Makaria, one of Hades daughters, are together so that should be interesting, not sure she'll be the heroine on his book tho.

Something else, Azura is called the Queen of All Shadows, which makes me think she'll have a prominent role on Brynna's book (hide spoiler)]

I did. I'm a bit busy these days and I'll just say that (view spoiler)[ Jaden and Mennie's interactions stirred up all the pissed off feelings I had when I found out about how Mennie used Cherise. She had such a self-righteous attitude every time she appeared in the book. Plus, Jaden's perspective on her certainly contradicted all the benevolent-old-lady vibes she exudes every time she appears in other books. We've seen before that Jaden, when consumed by his role related to Order, could be incredibly ruthless and how that cost him his relationship to his family. We've seen how the Arelim's righteous mission has been twisted as some of them became overzealous. But Mennie, throughout all the books, has remained a pretty spotless bastion of good and light. Sure, she had a role in Monakribos and Kissare's deaths, but the Mavromino believes she's been soft on the bloodline since that happened. "She's a good person! She feels regret! She's like Nick's guardian angel, watching over him to make sure he stays a nice boy! She even found him a mother who would love him unconditionally!" I mean, even with how angry I was over what happened to Cherise, I could see that Mennie did it with the best of intentions and stepped in to care for both Cherise and Nick in the aftermath. Nick turned out ok, Cherise never regretted having him because he's her whole world...so all in all, it did seem as though, despite Mennie's methods, she had good intentions and it led to a good outcome.

But the conniving way she plotted to kill Adarian and basically force Madoc to take his place (just nonchalantly planning to enslave someone else because the current slave demon just won't be put in his place anymore!) , the self-righteous attitude she had at the end when she planned to use Jared for her own ends and expose his child, her bother's great-grandchild, to pain and suffering ALL because she wants to manipulate fate to her advantage? AAARRRGGHH

Also, the Malachai who kidnapped Valynda and wanted to open the gates and free Lilith...we all agree that was totally Cyprian, right? I mean, Adarian wanted to be dead, not free the dead. And Laguerre and Grim definitely had their own agenda. (Plus, Valynda said the Malachai had clear blue eyes and Nick got his eyes from his mother, not Adarian) (hide spoiler)]

I am so backed up right now. Ugh. It will probably be a couple more days before I can even start.

(view spoiler)[I 100% don't think that Cyprian, as in that same scene Adarian says that transmutation is one of his powers, that and the scene with the prostitute, besides he thinks about how he was careful not to have any children in one scene when he was weakened by Madoc, who could only weaken his father not another relative like his nephew, so yeah, I don't think that was Cyprian.

About Mennie, you are probably the first person who I've seen refer to her as a bastion of light, my entire discord group is a Mennie hate club lol (hide spoiler)]

I do remember someone asking why Adarian had backed off when Ash showed up at the hospital, and SK or someone of her team said that it was because Adarian was trying to stay under the radar, and getting into a fight with Acheron would have attracted attention towards him.

I don't really get Adarian's plan. It doesn't really make sense to me.

(view spoiler)[ CON made a big deal of how Nick got his eyes from his mother. I think I even remember a bit in Adarian's POV that said he could never kill Nick because in his son's face, he saw Cherise's eyes looking back at him. So I am extremely confused by Valynda making such a big deal out of the "cerulean clarity" of Adarian's eyes. It seems like such a weird detail (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Kind of odd, right? He also told Nick the Malachai were extinct and was so surprised to find out Adarian had a son later. How could he be so surprised? I mean, if so many groups were stationned in New Orleans to keep watch over the Malachai, one would think they would have noticed he raped a local girl and sired an heir. Mennie couldn't have been the only one to know (although she might be the type to forbid everyone from striking against Nick). (hide spoiler)]

That probably played a part on him retreating as well, the Malachai get drained fast when in the presence of their heirs, so he probably worried that he wouldn't be able to beat him.

Does anyone have any new theories about stuff from new info from the book?
