Requested and I think it's a good idea. Ask for help with homework here.

inactive account (supernerdgavin) Would average speed in pages per hour mean to round my answer to the closest whole number?

Pages per hour? What's the context?

inactive account (supernerdgavin) Yes pages per hour. And I got 33 and 2 thirds... Would i round?

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

You'll have to type out the question

inactive account (supernerdgavin) Sharon read 380 pages in 3 days. Each day she read 4 hours and then stopped. What was her average speed in pages per hour for the 2 days she read.
I divided 380 by 2 and got 190 then I divided 190 by 8 and got 23 and two thirds.

@Nobody: Um, 3 days or 2 days? If it's two days, then 23 and three fourths, not two thirds.

@Nobody: I don't think so, not for average speed.

A pyramid with 4 faces and a base. Right? That makes 5 faces total?

Oh yeah. That sounds better. In my defense I haven't taken geometry in a while... And we don't talk about pyramids in the trig study of my pre calculus class.

inactive account (supernerdgavin) 2.The cost of Mrs jones electric bill decreased by 10%to $158 this month. What was the cost of her bill last month?

5. Tammy wanted to have a Halloween party and infinite some friends over. For 15 friends she figured she would need to spend $6.00 per person for food and drinks. If the number of friends that was 20% more than expected, then how much more would the amount budgeted for food increase?

7. At his weekly football training weigh in, Grant noticed that the scale showed 0.454 kilograms. He weighs 72.64 kilograms, but needs to know his weight in pounds. Write a proportion that Grant use to out how many pounds he weighs.

What happened to the "x-12=0 solve for x" days?

Nobody #2 is $1.20.

You have to set x over 6 and 20 over 100. Cross multiply, divide, and poof. I think...

If it's 6$ per person, it would be 90$ for 15 people?? 20% is three, so there's 18 people. And that would be 108$... 18$.....?

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

XD *maths in head* x=8264837637 jk no

I think it's asking for the cost of her bill last month, not how much it decreased by....

You would add $1.20 for each person no? I don't know I'm naturally blonde and I'm dumb.

message 31: by Cady (new)

Cady For #2? It's asking for her bill last month??

XD I meant #5

message 34: by Cady (new)

Cady she would need to spend $6.00 per person

So 15 people would cost 90$... because 6$*15 is 90....?

✯ Nikki ✯ | 8711 comments Mod
She has to increase her budget to $7.20 because 20% more people show up so overall it will be $108.

message 36: by Cady (new)

Cady Oops
Didn't do that xD

I think #2 is about $173.

message 38: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) @Nobody Question about 7... At his weekly football training weigh in, Grant noticed that the scale showed 0.454 kilograms. He weighs 72.64 kilograms, but needs to know his weight in pounds. Write a proportion that Grant use to out how many pounds he weighs. Is where it says he weighs 72.64 kilograms, is that supposed to be pounds? Because if not then it does not give you all the info needed to solve it.
