Other - the blurb/summary on the back. If it sounds remotely interesting, I'm in! :)
Author first. Then it varies for me on the rest. Sometimes its Title or Cover Art first...other times I look for those after I see the Genre. Its rare I pick up a book based on reviews and ratings, only because I tend to distrust others opinions in regards to my personal tastes. I like seeing how othees felt, but take reviews with a grain of salt, unless the person has a super similar taste in books to mine. But once I find an author I like, I try to exhaust their works first and foremost.
From the ranking choices I see the only one that applies to me and is how I choose all my books is by the Jacket Blurb. Genre, cover or if I read books by the author don't matter to me- if the content doesn't interest me I won't read it.
Different factors at different times....it can be an author, genre, or plot summary. may be a recommendation :)
I agree with Samantha. If I like a particular author, I want to read their entire body of work -- and in order! Other than that, it's totally based on mood. I might like a title, a book jacket, cover... I just never know what I'll be bringing home from the library!
