Carter Bales was born on October 8th in a small town called Lutonville. He was raised by his mother, Olivia, and his father, Simon. He grew up with his younger sister, named Astrid. All was well in his life- or at least, as well as it could get in the gloomy little town. It was at the age of nine when things really started to get twisted for Carter. He and his sister were walking along the roads near their home. As they walked, Astrid suddenly lost her footing and fell to the ground. At the time, she was fine. It wasn't a very bad fall, and they both laughed as Carter reached out his hand to help her up. When Astrid took Carter's hand, things changed. Before he could react, his sister began to scream in pain. He and his sister both didn't understand what was going on at the time. His sister's hold on his hand tightened as her pain increased. When Astrid became unconscious, Carter began to panic even more than he already was. Carter then dragged her up and carried her back to his home. When his parents saw them at the door, they quickly understood the horrible power he'd gained. They took Astrid from his arms and locked him in his room until his parents could figure out what to do with him. Carter waited for what seemed like hours, until finally, his parents unlocked his door. He noticed how his parents distanced themselves greatly from him, which they never usually did. He could see the fear on their faces. The weeks went by. His parents acted abnormally harsh to him. They never touched him or tried to go anywhere near him. He rarely ever saw Astrid anymore, even though they lived in the same house. As an entire year passed, it got to the point where his entire family began to neglect him. They rarely chose to speak with him, and when they did, it was to berate him. They never included him in anything and didn't even give him food to eat. Carter spent most of his time locked in his room or in a library where no one would bother him. He learned to fend for himself and would sneak into his kitchen at night to get the things he needed. He began to hate his family.

If you can manage to become his friend, he will be a more open. He is kind to close friends and can get a little protective over them. Carter also has a sadistic side to him. It might be due to what his power is, but having it doesn't help that little trait. Carter also has low self esteem, due to how his family has treated him over the years and has depression. Carter actually likes human contact, but his power forces him not to touch anyone. Over the years, Carter has become independent and extremely self-reliant.
