Name: Mark Sanders

Appearance: Tall, broad, muscular and handsome, Mr. Sanders is often the "teacher crush" of many girls. His eyes are the color of melted chocolate, and his hair just a shade darker. With a very chiseled jaw and a winning grin, Mr. Sanders's class is the favorite of many girls.

Personality: In his classes, he appears to be one of the more easy-going teachers. Never overly strict or known to give out attention, he's a favorite of many. Very intelligent with a fantastic resume, there was wonder as to why he didn't teach at a university. As well, others puzzle over how he's single; with no mention of a spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend of any sort. However, there are rumors that only few know circulating his history with sexual relations with a student...
History: Mr. Sanders was born and raised in Australia, before coming to Vanderbilt in his own years. He knows the social rules of Vanderbilt and how all the students function. He was not from a very rich family, and was one of the few scholarship students.

Personality: Alex is a pretty laid back guy. He loves to work with the kids on making their art skills better and is a very social person. He is one of the people that you can come to with any problem, teacher or student, and he would be more then happy to listen and give advice

History: He grew up in London for the first 18 years off his life. When he was 16 he did an exchange program with the art department of his school and took a half year trip to Spain. He learned a ton of new things and grew an even bigger passion for art. Once he finished off school back in London he decided to go to college in Spain until he was offered a job at Vanderbilt where he apply to the offer.

[ t ] hey say life is too short for you to analyze everything you do, but that's not what Yesmi thinks. Or, as people tend to call him without his permission, Yes. He's come to learn that if you wanna make the best of your life you sure as hell better look at the mistakes that people before you have made. Don't be like them; be better. But the big problem he has to deal with is that he isn't exactly cut out to deal with people. He doesn't quite like them, and they don't like him. Or, that's what everyone thinks.

Yes is very painfully aware of how terrible he is with people. He's very aware that sometimes his words may just make people uncomfortable or that he might say something that will most definitely offend, but it's not something he can really help. He tries, he really tries, but it doesn't always work out. He gets defensive, real fast, if he feels like he needs to. Emotionally, he's Area 51. It's hard to tell what he's thinking or feeling unless he tells you, and he doesn't really tell anyone that--not even the person he's been going to explicitly for that purpose. But one thing that most people don't see is that he's helpless crippled by his social anxiety and loneliness. Most decidedly not a good mix.

The only reason Yesmi even took on the job to teach two classes was to force himself to interact with people more. The students might not like his monotone voice, but he's getting there. He generally gets very involved when he finds something to be passionate about, and numbers and coding are things he really loves. He's loved them since he was little, and he had no one to turn to. He could turn to that dinosaur of a computer and start fiddling with it. He could turn to the numbers in his textbooks with the answers in the back. His parents, though, were a different story.

Among the things that people know about him, it's that you shouldn't get on his nerves. He might look harmless and weak, but Lord knows he can pretty much destroy your life. Everyone has secrets, and he knows how to get to them. That, and some people just open up to him. People have noted that his inability to find the proper words and his generally dismissive attitude when he can't think of something is very helpful for when they just need to talk about his problems. Maybe he should have been a Psychologist.

Personality: Kevin is very serious, but does have a funny side and knows when to use it. He is also very friendly and outgoing.
History: When Kevin was in school, he was often made fun of for his very deep voice and for being Jewish. In high school, he was a huge choir nerd. After he graduated from high school and college, he joined a group called Pentatonix and went on a contest show called "The Sing-Off" and won. After many years being in the group, the group decided to break off and have a family. Then later became a teacher.

[ t ] here seems to be a lack of communication for most that speak with Mei. They think she's...not so bright at times, which is not the case. She has a tendency to overthink things, to worry constantly. For herself, for her students that might be failing her class, or even for someone totally unrelated to her. She's always been a people person, the type to look out for others. One could say that she's a mother hen, constantly fretting over her chicks. But she loves to teach, her worries don't get in the way of that, at least.

She's a long way from China, the country of her birth. She loved it there, but she also loves it at Vanderbilt. She thinks of it as a fun new experience, though she's been here for two years already now. She finds some difficulty in getting accustomed to the world around her, but she knows that everything is always changing. That she just has to get used to that idea, and everything will be okay.

Mei took the job because she felt it would be the best opportunity for her. She felt it would get her connections to other schools when the time came. The love of her country and language has always pushed her to teach others of it. She doesn't see it as just a job, but a duty. In times of constant misunderstanding and tragedy, she thinks it can all be overcome by educating each other. If there are no misgivings of a person and their circumstances, or even the circumstances of where they came from, harmony can e found. People would think that she's overly positive, but that has always been how she sees it. And so, she's here to eradicate any misunderstanding about herself as a person, and the place she came from.

━━ with her extremely fancy name, you'd assume Aphra was born to the Duke of Something-Something, but in reality she was born in Philadelphia to a banker and yoga teacher, the last of two other children. Her childhood was extremely boring and average, with the occassional vacation to Disneyworld or something. When she was 17 her maternal grandmother in Florida died, leaving all her money to Aphra's mother. With this money, Aphra left to study at Le Cordon Bleu, but spent the next five years after college working as a short order cook in a Los Angeles restaurant. When she was searching online for jobs, she saw Vanderbilt had an opening. A job teaching basic cooking skills on an island sounded perfect, so here she is.

Andrew did not grow up the kind of person who'd go to Vanderbilt. He was born into the middle class of Washington, D.C, with parents Harry and Amelia working in sales and as a dental assistant. Having 3 older siblings, they couldn't exactly afford all that much. Henceforth, they lived in a not-so-great neighborhood with really bad schools.

Andrew's least favorite part of his years under the age of 18 was school. It wasn't necessarily that he didn't have friends, because he did, or that he was bullied, because he wasn't, but it was the teachers. Most of his teachers were on tenure, meaning they couldn't be fired. Because of this, they just sat around all day, not teaching the kids much at all if anything. Why did Andrew go into education if he'd had such a bad experience with it? Because he didn't want any other kids to have to go through that.

But Vanderbilt already has great teachers, right? Why would he teach there? Trust me, he was just as skeptical. Andrew had just been certified to teach when a far better-off cousin, who was a recent graduate of Vanderbilt, tipped Andrew off about a newly opened job position. Of course, it wasn't exactly Andrew's dream job, but he ended up meeting a few vanderbilt seniors when he went for the interview. None seemed all that interested in learning, and Andrew knew he could change that, so he took the job.

Andrew makes an amazing teacher. Naturally outgoing and friendly, he knows how to have his students feel like they matter. He's very involved socially and somehow ends up knowing all the great gossip. Nevertheless, he can often be a bit much, if you know what I'm saying. A lot of people find his constant energy to be especially draining on them. Still, he makes a great friend with his fierce loyalty and protection.

Once a promising student at a premier drama school in St. Petersburg, Vasily is not in a desirable state in life. His job is a surprising relief to the stress he faces coming from within himself. He was once married to the tempermental, award-winning chemist Ingrid Matson, with whom he had a son, Pierre, and a daughter, Anna, named after his two favorite Tolstoy characters and, like their namesakes and him, very screwed up. Ingrid, however, cheated on him, and he began drinking champagne to drown his sorrows during and after their heated divorce. Thus, he is at an unfortunate state and hopes his girlfriend, fellow old-school staff member Anastasia Schulyer will help him. He is at heart a good soul, but masked by his constant drunkenness.

Cecily is a close friend of Vasily's, them having met at a restaurant some years ago, and she introduced her to her cousin, Anastasia. She likes alternative rock, but abhors swearing.

Cecily normally does not stand out much, but at Vanderbilt, her short stature, general subservience, and lack of much to say point her out in a very obvious manner, something she will have to get used to.
