Exactly. We all make errors and doubt our decisions afterwards. That's part of being human. But rethinking it over and over is what can destroy us. And whether it was true or not, does she deserve to go to prison for a mistake? Or is it truly gross negligence? Or would she have gone to trial anyway if she HADN'T acted right away and possibly lost both of them?

I have had five incredible experiences with midwives and have worked with many more as a doula. I have had three hospital and two home births. In general, midwives, the trained kind, know the risks and will do whatever they can to bring about a safe birth for mother and baby. That is their first priority. I am sorry you had a bad experience with your midwife Shannon. I think that it is the exception rather than the norm.
This is a biased against midwives with no schooling in birth and that is what most people think of when you hear the word "midwife". A bad experience and human error can occur with ANY birth, not just with midwives.
