Hey. I'm looking for a book about a girl who lives in a desert or something like that and she has to go through a ceremony and something happens. She has to leave to regain her honor and defeat a bad guy. I'm can't really remember much. I remember I got it from the recent books at the library 2 years ago

The Shadow Speaker
?What sort of scifi elements were in the book? Time travel, spaceships, aliens, etc?
Anything about the cover?
Part of a series?
Remember any of the family, friends, sidekicks, villains?
Here are some guesses:
The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley?
Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst?
The Hotel Under the Sand by Kage Baker?
Fire Country by David Estes?
Juveriyah, who does the girl live with in the desert (or similar place)?
Does anyone help her during the ceremony?
Is the setting Earth or a sci-fi/fantasy world?

Great! Glad we could help. :)
By the way, scanning the reviews for "Vessel", I notice Felicia Day mentions a book this reminds her of - The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin which she - and Patrick Rothfuss - give 5 star reviews. Just in case you're interested.
