Delaine was sitting on her bed in her room, she was waiting for something, but she didn't know what yet. Her mom had said she should wait in her room, something was coming today. Right then, an owl flew into her window, and landed on her dresser. Delaine smiled widely and went over to it. It was a medium sized snow white owl that had grey spots on it's wings. It was beautiful. It stuck out its leg and Delaine untied the letter from around it. It was her Hogwarts letter! Delaine screeched with delight.
Raven slammed the door and muttered a curse word. Her stupid foster family never got it. Even wizards could be idiotic. Although there never had been a 1/2 Wizard 1/2 Vampire before. She looked up to see a black owl coming with a letter. She smiled. She had just turned 11 a couple of days ago and was expecting her Hogwarts letter. The owl landed on her vanity and stuck out its leg. Raven untied it. Her eyes shining with delight. In a week she would be off to Hogwarts, away from her family, and maybe learn more about herself.
Delaine's mom came into the room and smiled. "Did you get it?" She asked, as if she didn't know. "Ya mom, this is it." Delaine held up the letter. Her mom laughed. "If only I was this excited when I got mine. By The way, that owl is yours." Delaine screeched with delight again. "This is great mom thanks!" Delaine went over to the owl. "So, mom, when are we going to go Hogwarts shopping?"
Raven came down from she room with her "family" standing proudly at the table. She raised her eyebrows. "Yes?" she asked."Did you get it?" asked her step-father.
"If you mean the letter yes."
They grinned happily at her. "Well, then I'm glad. Tommarrow we'll go shopping and you can get all of your supplies and your owl." Her older sister said, the only real person in her family she even liked.
"Ok." She said happily.
"We can go tomorrow if you'd like. Okay?" My mom asked me, I simply nodded with a huge grin.
"But mom, I really wanted a black owl with white spots on it." She would get over it, but she did want one.
"Okay then, we'll look tomorrow, your father wanted a new owl anyway." She put the owl on her shoulder, and smiled, walking out of the room.

Elizabeth was eating breakfast. Her mom was at work. Her dad hadn't come home last night. She didn't know where he was. An owl had landed on the table. Elizabeth screamed and tried to shoo it away. It stayed and held out its leg. It had a letter on it. She untied it and read it.
It was an invite to a speical school. A wizarding school. This was crazy!
Delaine walked up and down Diagon Alley. Being here about a million times, but not quite for this reason, made her see it in a whole new light. She was looking for an owl. That was the first thing she wanted to get.
