"The brick was in his hand. In his mind his hand traced a quick invisible arc through the cold air of the room; high above his head his hand paused in fancy and imaginatively swooped down to where he thought her head must be. He was rigid; not moving. This was the way it had to be. Then he took a deep breath and his hand gripped the brick and shot upward and paused a second then plunged downward through the darkness to the accompaniment of a deep short grunt from his chest and landed with a thud." (Wright 236-237). In times of desperation or panic, people often act irrationally; unbalanced. No more was this the case for anyone in this story besides Bigger Thomas. What do you think caused him to murder Bessie? Was it worth it? Would things have changed for him if he didn't? Explain your reasoning.

This book was amazing to read. The moral issues it made me reckon with were tremendous.

Of course he should not have killed her, of course it was understandable why he may have had that reaction tho. Life is insane at its worst
