Karen M. McManus created an extremely intricate murder mystery with a side of teenage romance. Beginning with two teenage twins, Ezra and Ellery, who moved across the country from California to Vermont to live with their grandmother because their mother had been admitted to rehab. Their mother, Sadie, was also a twin to her sister Sarah, who was brutally murdered in high school. Ellery is fascinated by crime and murder because of the mystery of who killed her aunt, Sarah. The town where her mother and aunt had grown up, known as Echo Ridge, had been plagued by murders over the years. As Ellery and Ezra explore the secrets the town has, they themselves start to get absorbed into the craziness. McManus writes an amazing novel that shares the stories of these twins who find out who their dad really is and who killed their aunt Sarah. I love the way McManus leaves you wanting to read more. Trust me, you will be shocked by the twisted ending, I did not see it coming. This book has the high school drama mixed with family drama and teenage romance all while people are getting kidnapped and brutally murdered.
