For each quest your team completes you not only help towards saving Christmas for all of Novel Kingdom's citizens but you also receive shiny golden points to store in your tower treasure chest.
Books read by any team member may be used in the completion of a quest.
Team Captains should turn in quests on the Captains board.
Books with a date read of December 2, 2014, to January 30, 2015 may be used to complete these quests.
Each book may only count towards one completion criteria however two different members on a team may read the same book and each count it towards a quest. Each quest may only be completed once for points. (hide spoiler)]

See how many items you can find!
The items need to form part of the book title, author name, character name, or be an image on the cover, or occur somewhere in the story of the book you are reading.
Your team will get 5 points for each item found (one item per book), and if more than 75% of your team members find an item, you will get a bonus 30 points!

Note:Individuals can only find each item once, but multiple people on a team can find the same item. So if two people on the team read a book with a dog on the cover, both would claim 5 points, but that same person couldn't then claim "dog" again

1. This Unofficial Mini Challenge runs from December 11, 2014 to December 30, 2014.
2. Each team member gets one "Free Space" they can put anywhere on the board to cancel out a prompt.
3. You can use a single book for up to two prompts, but no more. So if you have a 600 page book you chose for its cover, then that can be used for two different prompts.
4. However, you get a bonus high-five and celebratory gif if you don't use any of the things to make it easier (read 25 different books)

Between January 3 and January 18 let's see who can read more books. The Air teams or the Earth teams.
The only rule is that each team must read at least one book from every page count category:
-between 100 and 160 pages - Emma 3/1/15 112 pages
-between 161 pages and 450 pages - Vicci 3/1/15 316 pages
-between 451 and 600 pages - Snowtulip 4/1/15 488 pages
between 601 and 750 pages - Erin 8/1/15
-between 751 and 900 pages - Erin 7/1/15
-over 901 pages Emma 1/10/15

Not only will the winning element will have bragging rights, but if Air wins then Amanda will need to change her goodreads picture to an air image; and if Earth wins then Renee will need to change her goodreads picture to an earth image.

Good idea to set up a shelf now. I think it is easier for the captain to track if people only put books they have finished reading in the shelf. Post links to each members shelf in one of your reserved spots so they are easy to find. The more tech savvy mods are working on a spreadsheet template, so you don't need to worry about that yet, we will give you one soon.

Other strategies that members are using is to start reading a few books now that you can finish after the 8th. Lots of people have planned buddy reads over the next 3 months already, so have a look in the Buddy Read List and see if there's any you want to join, or feel free to request a book too. There is also a Back Room Buddy Read request thread and a private group for those smutty books.

So is it best to maybe have 2 shelves do you think, 1 for the books that we are planning to read and 1 for the books that we have read?

It's up to you how you plan it, that could work. I have all my planned BOM and Buddy reads in my phone calendar with alarms to help me remember what I said I'd read and when. You could also claim a post each and list there what you are planning.

I do have a post with my November challenges & buddy reads -> links and planned books/progress. I just need to add to the Tower Team section now!

I have two books close to done (60-75%) so I will slow those down. And a buddy read that starts today. And two buddy reads planned later this week with Miss V - including Big Little Lies Yay!

I can set one here, if you want. I haven't requested it yet, because I'm really, really bad at having too many buddy reads at once, because I tend to start all books and not finishing them. So. I'm trying to behave :)

I do the same thing with all sorts of buddy reads! LOL! I'm going to plan to participate in the Big Little Lies BR here at NBRC too since Vicci & I have one starting around the same time. One book with two BR groups sounds doable!

Hey Snowtulip! EIT is Experiment in Terror series written by Karina Halle. Although I've read a lot of different series that I have really enjoyed - this romance/mystery/paranormal series was seriously sooooo addicting!!!

Snowtulip, I just joined the buddy read and have been listening to the audiobook. Pretty good stuff so far. Glad you're able to join in.
