What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I will be AMAZED if anyone finds this book. I read it probably 10-15 years ago. All I remember from it is that there's a young girl in it and I think she has a cat, the cat maybe has a name beginning with an M? I think it's a young adult fantasy book. The main thing I remember is that the front cover of the book is a pale purple/lavender colour. I think the title of the book is written in capital letters, maybe in black or silver? I dunno. I don't even remember what the book is about but I remember I enjoyed it. I think the title is maybe one word, like Moonlight or something. Please help!

How about "Sabriel" by Garth Nix? There is a creature who is bound in the form of a cat named Mogget. There are a number of covers, so if this one doesn't match what you remember just look at the rest of them. It might also be one of the sequels, so look at those, too.

Thanks for the reply, Bonnie! That does seem to match almost everything I can remember about the book. I can't seem to find the cover I am thinking of so I will keep looking but I will also read Sabriel and see if anything rings a bell. Thank you!

Could it be Obernewtyn? It also has a purple cover, and a young girl with a cat named Maruman.

The plot doesn't sound familiar so I don't think it's the one I'm looking for. But it totally sounds like a book I would like so I'll have to get that one! :)

Just to update this; I'm fairly sure the book is Inkheart! It seems to fit what I was looking for so will definitely have to try reading it.

You mentioned a purple cover. I wonder if it's another book in the Inkworld series by Cornelia Funke, such as Inkspell or Inkdeath?

I think it probably is! What I’m remembering could be a hardback book without the sleeve on it, so I’ll have to go and investigate when the book shops open up again here.
