November 2019 Nomination Thread
[Admin: if this post violates the group rules, I will be happy to remove it}Hey gang, while it does have some heavy hitters like King and Gaiman, I've edited a charity horror anthology - all proceeds are being donated the The United Way Fund for the families of the Virginia Beach shooting victims back in May.
Most of the stories are by lesser known authors - that's one of the other reason's I put it together; to get their names out there.
It would be my honor if it can be considered for the November read.
DARK TIDES: A CHARITY HORROR ANTHOLOGY

So, I’m not entirely sure if the book I’m going to recommend falls into the horror genre category or not but it’s an extremely entertaining read. Also, I’m not certain if it’s been read in the past year or no. Anyhow, I nominate “The Library at Mount Char” by Scott Hawkins. I promise, if you have not read this already, you will thank me! :)
Ana wrote: "What do you think of Jeff Strand? Clowns vs. spiders."He's my +1. He's always entertaining and weird and so under-rated, IMO
I nominate: 1. Children Of Chaos by Greg Gifune
2. Something Borrowed Something Blood Soaked by Christa Carmen
3. Yuri by Steve Stred

Merkabah Rider: High Planes Drifter by Edward M. Erdelac. From the description on Amazon:
"A Hasidic gunslinger tracks the renegade teacher who betrayed his mystic Jewish order of astral travelers to the Great Old Ones across the demon haunted American Southwest of 1881."
I read this book years ago, and it's recently been republished in a new edition. It's really damned good.
How Much To..? or Splattered Punk by Matt ShawHacked and Hacked Again by Tim Miller
Dr. Sadistic by Jon Athan
Gary’s Girls by Sam West
Extremes by Jim Goforth
The Uninvited by Mike Evans

I'm loving all of these titles! It's nice to see new names.
Hi! I have a few recommendations for this one because personally, I adore small or self published authors in the horror genre so much and tend to read more from the category than anywhere else. I chose three different books (I have a ton more). My first one is "Fantasticland" by Mike Bockoven
Published Oct. 11th 2016 (so a little older but I didn't see a pub date criteria mark, sorry if I missed it) I actually already read this and it was amazing and I NEED people to experience it to talk about with.

My second nomination is "Off" by A.C. McDowell

And last but not least is "Sweet Home" by Joseph Zuko

Thanks so much for letting me recommend and I'm excited for any book chosen this month!
Dead in Bed: Fifty Shades of GangreneFound this on my kindle and I’d like to read it with like minded friends ;)
Oooh, good theme!I'll nominate American Elsewhere
I also second Foe. I read I'm Thinking of Ending Things last month and I'm incredibly curious about his latest novel.
House of Skin - Jonathan JanzGhosts of Black Bear Mountain - Marc Monroe
Dark Carnival - Joanna Parypinski
These are a few
on my list.

"I love David Cassidy’s book! I don’t know if I could do a reread.
I would like to nominate A Winter Sleep
by Greg Gifune, and I would second Clowns Vs. Spiders
by Jeff Strand, and Children of Chaos
by Greg Gifune.
I'm reasonably sure that Grady Hendrix doesn't count as a "blockbuster" author. Either 'Horrorstor' or 'My Best Friend's Exorcism' are among my faves.
Shane wrote: "So, I’m not entirely sure if the book I’m going to recommend falls into the horror genre category or not but it’s an extremely entertaining read. Ana wrote: "What do you think of Jeff Strand? Clowns vs. spiders."Yes, I love Jeff Strand so anything by him is fine but I'd nominate "Pressure" as my pick.
Unsung voices, great theme! In the Valley of the Sun by Andy Davidson
To Be Devoured by Sara Tantlinger
Those Who Came Before by J H Moncrieff
John wrote: "Is Jonathan Maberry too blockbuster? Nominate Still of Night and +1 to Clowns Vs Spiders."
Dead of Night would be a better choice as it's the first book in the series and Still of Night is the third.
Glad to see another Maberry fan. :)

I am nominating While You Sleep. It was just an amazing read! I'd love to read it again. Please don't be discouraged by the book cover art. I don't think it represents the feeling of the novel.
I want to add a +1 to The Sleep Experiment, that has been in my TBR list for a while and I’d love to get to it
I'm loving all these titles as I'm being introduced to some new authors myself. My pick is the following:
The Carrow Haunt
+1 to Foe and Sleep Experiment.
Fantasticland is a great, multi-first-person read. The various voices kept the horror and grittiness, alive throughout the book.I second and also American Elsewhere.

I'm happy to see I've finally succeeded in sending my evil influence into the nom process.

After all the new titles/authors I've discovered from group reads and author group reads, I'm totally in favor of banishing all the popular kids from group reads for good. >:)

This month there is a theme and it is "lesser known authors you wish everyone would read". That means no blockbuster authors, PLEASE. You know the one's I mean. Stephen King, Anne Rice, Shirley Jackson, H.P. Lovecraft, Joe Hill and the books everyone always talks about. There are a slew of new and lesser known writers out here and we'd like to spotlight a few of them in November.
Books with seconds and thirds have a greater chance of making the poll so please +1 any books that interest you.
Authors, please do not nominate your own books.
Please do not nominate books that have been read in the past year. Check here for a list of previous reads: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
