Hi Diane, Sorry it took so long; been working on a paperback.
I looked at your author's page and also Amazon. They sound fun and interesting. Is there a way to look inside and possibly glimpse the illustrations? I couldn't find an e-book. Mine is illustrated as well. Thanks!

Diane Budden (dvpbauthor) | 4 comments I didn’t produce an ebook for either raven book sooooo....The Un-Common Raven is all beautiful 4-color photography taken by local photographer. Shade was local illustrator and artist.
Do you have ravens where you live? They are fascinating birds.

message 11: by M.L. (new)

M.L. | 49 comments I haven't seen any ravens here where I am. I don't think there's enough room for them. They are regal birds, my opinion. :)

M.L. | 49 comments I have a story in a new anthology Writers in Lockdown: A collection of short stories. The anthology has 27 stories, by different authors from different countries. The stories had to be written between March-June. They are not about the Covid-19 virus but were written because we are all locked down. It's a good book.
Faith Jones is the editor and selected the stories featured. It's cross-genre, so there is something for everyone!

M.L. | 49 comments So what is after the anthology? Most writers are not post-anthology blue but still writing--and that goes for me, and this time about food. :)

M.L. | 49 comments Who can resist a Christmas story? Lots of people probably but not me. Here goes:

Christmas Eve Day

The North Pole Banquet Hall.

Crystal goblets pinged; the festive hall quieted. Santa stood up.

“To Christmas!” he boomed, lifting a glass, the traditional toast after a light but satisfying meal, Kung Pao Chicken, Lo Mein Noodles, steamed dumplings. He beamed at the sea of peaked green hats.

“To Christmas!” echoed hundreds of squeaky voices, waiting as Santa broke open the fortune cookie.

“What’s this?” Santa glowered at the small yellow strip Do not go near the sleigh.

The elves whispered among themselves, what could be wrong?
“Er, it says, ‘Good luck!’” He grinned at them.

The elves, not all of them convinced, grinned back and nodded their approval.

“We’d best be off!” Santa turned—and slipped on an ice cube.

Crash!

“My leg, it’s broken,” he moaned.

What to do? The sleigh and reindeer waited outside the hall for the great man to spread joy and presents.

“You mustn’t ride tonight,” said the elves.

“I must!”

“You mustn’t!”

“Then who?” groaned Santa.

They turned this way and that seeking a suitable replacement. One by one their eyes lit on Chutney, the bartender elf. Too big for a proper elf but perfect otherwise: same size, same jolly expression, same everything. With due haste they hustled Chutney out of the bar, into the spare red suit, and into the sleigh.

“Follow the map,” they said. “The reindeer know the way.” A bit of hyperbole. Reindeer, like horses, know a beginner when they see one.

Off went Chutney, hanging onto his hat. He’d never been in a flying sleigh before.

Did Chutney save the day? Yes and no. He delivered many presents, but since he did not know what he was doing, he missed many houses.

Not to worry.

Over the next week the elves flew individual smaller sleighs, each pulled by a skeleton crew of three reindeer, and delivered the presents. True, they were late but they blamed it on the post office and saved Santa’s reputation.

M.L. | 49 comments *New Release* :) .99 thru Apr 12

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09...

The witch wants her dead, the fae want her alive, the police want to bring her in for questioning. High school should not be this way.

Olivia knows the rules: study hard, never lie, do unto others, but when a witch makes the rules and the others are fae, telling the truth will get her locked up.

Last month she saw the impossible, now she sees it again. She tells herself it's all in her head. How else explain a shining man who fell out of nowhere or a student who died but still lives?

She carries on with her usual activities: volleyball, pop quizzes, a favor for Mom, but denial won't make it go away. When she thinks it can't get any worse, it does.

Friends, enemies, the police, someone is lying, but who? If not one of them, one of us.

M.L. | 49 comments Hi folks!

Covers anyone? :) There is a fantasy novel competition judged by 10 blogs - and part of it, but separate from the books themselves, is a cover art contest.

Mark Lawrence is the sponsor and founder of the competition. #SPFBO

I know some of you really, really like covers and art. So if you would like to vote on this, see the link. There are a few judges' votes at the top and below that is the link where everyone can vote. Take a look at the covers the judges selected so far, semifinalist) and choose as many as you like (try to choose at least 4). I love the Demons Ink cover. :)
