I'm going to start this a bit early as I've got an empty space in my reading list.

I made a start of the first few chapters last night. Took me a moment to get the world building straight but I think I've got it now.

I was feeling unwell yesterday, I didn't get any reading done. So the book I was suppose to read yesterday, I did today. I'll start this one in morning.

Sure. Hope you are feeling better. I've really got to get a move on with my Christmas preparations but it's just so tempting to sit down and read and think about that stuff.. later.

Yes, why does all that stuff have to get in way of reading. So many interruptions lol

I just made a start, just first chapter and I'm finding it interesting. The world takes a moment to understand.

I've just finished chapter 3, I'm definitely liking

Upto Chapter 5

(view spoiler)[--Ellie must be a natural of magic and quite powerful, even thought she doesn't know she is doing it. I liked the scene where she healed Bel and his offering of protection.

I got stuck into it last night and just finished Chapter 10.

(view spoiler)[ I'm glad Den got put in his place although I have a feeling he is going to cause major grief before the end. I'm also interested to find out about Ellie's power, she was a foundling so she could have all sorts of major magic in her blood unbeknown to everyone.

The soulbond is also interesting - how Rain had a heart bond with his first wife but the soul bond trumps that. That the soulbond is like instant but it takes a little time for them to fall in love. (hide spoiler)]

As this is a five book series with the story of Rain and Ellie throughout, it does suffer a bit from what I call "First Book Syndrome". There is a lot of world building and setup which can get in the way of the flow of the story and I'm guessing this is a series which gets better with each book.

I agree what you say about it being first book. There is a lot of world building to understand. I think this one is the slow build and the other books get better.

(view spoiler)[I found the soulbond interesting too. I liked that even thought in is instantaneous, it takes trust, love and opening up to each other - no secrets for to complete.

Den is certainy going to couse trouble, I think. He been the only one, that I can see (apart from the Fey now) to know about her magic. (hide spoiler)]

I'm done and I have to say I found this book very enjoyable.

Rain and Ellie, I liked both. Opposites but I thought they suited each other.

I want to know more about Bel and the rest of the Fey.

I've finished as well. I'm going to rate it at 3.5-4 stars, I liked it especially the descriptions of the Tairen Soul in flight and the Ellie mystery, although it did suffer a little from being the first book but I am intrigued enough to read on when I get a chance.

One thing I wasn't sure on, maybe you can shed a little light... (view spoiler)[ Is Ellie really the evil Mage's daughter, or does he just want everyone to think that to cause big trouble between herself and Rain? She is very powerful although her power is supressed at the moment and the Mage wants her power. If she isn't his daughter, maybe she is also a Tairen Soul or other magical being whose power has not yet awakened? (hide spoiler)]

Oh and I loved the character of Bel... I really hope he finds someone to love before the series is finished.

On your last spoiler Lisa (view spoiler)[I'm thinking she is not the Mage's daughter, he just wants to cast doubt and suspicion. I wonder if she is a Tairen Soul and this is one of the reasons The Tairen Eye says Ellie is going to be saviour of the Tairen and Fey. (hide spoiler)]

I definitely want to read next book.
