The sun rose early that day but the shades covered up any evidence of morning in Princess Camellia's room. She realized that morning that the birds were chirping. Was it getting warmer? She would have to go out to the garden that day to see. It wasn't snowing that day, so maybe an early spring was coming. It seemed so odd to her. Her fitted pastel pink dress dragged behind her and her heels were not heard by the sound of clanking guard armor. She ordered them away and they went around the bend of the hallway, which left the princess wandering down a corridor alone with a book in her hand.

Right now, he was sketching. Just a bouquet of flowers, but he was really trying to make it work this time. He wasn't all that great an artist, but he was pretty sure this was one of the best daisies he'd every drawn; and he was sure he'd gotten the depth of he vase not to perfect.
Princess Camellia was not sure where she was going. She was not sure if she was ever going to venture out of the wide hallway. But in the end she knew that she wouldn't be able to resist going into the gardens that day. Maybe she'd see a gardener and ask him what type of flowers they would be planting that year. Before any of that could happen she wanted to talk to her mother and sit down to a nice plate of eggs and toast. Her mind was not focused on the new friendship that she made the previous day, but that bright and early morning she wasn't able to find her book about a beast and a beautiful girl. She would have to find another edition that day. It was probably laying somewhere in the garden, for the wind must have blown it off the balcony. Camellia planned on sending a maid to fetch it. She then continued to trail down the hallway.

The Princess suddenly heard someone breathing in the hallway. She could see no one and had ordered the guards away. Well, there are other humans in this house. I must not be scared, she thought. But, she didn't care about being afraid of nothing, so she called out.
"Is anyone in here?" Camellia called out suddenly.
She knew it was probably the wind or a guard breathing very heavy, but she wanted to know. She waited several seconds.
"Show yourself, I'm not the king. There is no need to be scared," Camellia whispered, but she felt like she was talking to herself. "I may have the blood of him, but it isn't him. I mean, besides my mother there is no one to fear in this house. Besides the occasional mean guard."
By then she knew that no one was there so she trotted along.
