Book Swap 2019 - Play Here
The first player will be Linda C.Linda, you may pick a number from 1 to 25.
Play does not officially begin until Monday, but you may indicate your selection at any time, and then on Monday, we will let you know what you have opened and the games will begin!
Just to clarify: Player 1 opens a book, they automatically have that book as theirs. Player 2 comes along, does not want that book and so opens a new book, Here comes player 3 not wanting either book-and also opens a new book. We now have 3 books in play, yes? And player 4 can take any of them?
I select #25 for my pick.I will be doing a one day leaf peeping trip through the Finger Lakes region of NY on Monday, so posting this early.
I have given Anita a second number in case someone takes my selection right away, so I shouldn't hold-up the game at all.
Linda C,You have opened:
The Huntress
The next person up, is Theresa. Theresa, you may either steal the book from Linda, or you may open a book numbered from 1 to 24.

Wow - my turn! So excited! OK, I'm picking #3. I'm not stealing as I'm still on a WWII moratorium after seriously OD'ing on WWII books the last couple of years. I'm braving the blind choice!
Lol, we are both on a WWII moratorium! The good news is you opened:Lab Girl
A book I loved I must admit.
The next person up is NikkiNikki, you may steal either:
Lab Girl (Theresa) or
The Huntress (Linda C)
or you may select a number from 1-24, excluding #3.

Ooh, Lab Girl sounds fab!
Hmmm, I'm tempted by Lab Girl but I'm guessing there will be plenty of stealing going on once this gets going, so at this point I'll give into curiosity and open another one...#9 please!
I’m also tempted by lab girl. But I’m already having just so much fun. I’m still connected to my phone, that I can’t finish my book!

I'm anxiously awaiting the first steal, LOL! Now wishing I'd been the first! It's a good thing I was busy earlier today and did not have time to log in, or I would have lost the whole day to watching!

Amy wrote: "I’m biting my nails! There goes any other entertainment for the evening! Only taking breaks to achieve literacy for my 16-year-old."LOL make him read all the posts! I have 24 hours to respond if my # gets called, right? I hope so-I was in dentist chair for 3 hours today and I cannot sit much longer-I will try to keep a heads up on my phone, but the APP stinks!
I think everyone is just passing so there can be a tournament of steals!!! lol
I'm here! I'm here!I think I might be stealing, but give me a minute to check the synopses of everything that's been opened already...
Joanne wrote: "Amy wrote: "LOL make him read all the posts! I have 24 hours to respond if my # gets called, right?..."Yes, you have 24 hours. I work during the day, and may or may not check at lunch. If not, I will be checking in the evenings. So, depending if my name comes up again, I may not be here quite as quickly as this time!
(Tonight is a federal election, though, so once I choose right now, I may not be back for the evening... or I might check in just before bed.)
.....Ohhhhh, decisions between three that are already opened... I am going to steal:
"Locally Laid" from Nikki!
Nikki wrote: "Ooh, how exciting, our first steal! Does that mean it's my turn next?"Yes, it does!

Amy wrote: "Did not see that one coming!"It wasn't actually initially what I thought I was going to steal, to be honest... until I looked up the descriptions of each book!
Anita wrote: "I so predicted you were going to steal that! It sounds right up your alley..."You know me well, Anita! It would have been different if I hadn't taken a few minutes to look each book up. (But, I'm glad I did!)
I am so much wiser this second time around. The first time I sucked at this challenge. This go around I know so much more how to play it. But it also helps if you are not in the first seven. The randomizer was also kind to me this year.So we are waiting on Sara? I can fold laundry and watch dancing with the stars? And check in tomorrow?

How to Play
The order of play was generated at random.
The first player will select a number from 1-25.
The administrator will tell you which book the first player has opened.
The next player will have a choice. They may either steal Player One's book. Or, they may pick a new number and open a new book.
If they steal Player One's title, then Player One will have the opportunity to select a new number.
Then it is Player Three's turn. Player Three may then steal either one of the two open titles, or select a new number to open.
We continue ad infinitum until all the books are opened and distributed.
NOTE: The person who contributes the book title that is stolen the most will receive 50 participation points as a prize for providing the most popular choice.
Additional Rules
Each person may possess a given title no more than three times total.
If a player steals a book from you, you may not take it right back immediately, but must select or open a different book. You may steal it back at the next opportunity.
One title will come with a $25 Amazon gift certificate provided by PBT. At the end of the swap, we will announce which title includes the gift certificate. There may also be other mystery prizes attached to specific books.
You must check the status of the swap every 24 hours or assign a proxy person to do so for you so that if it is your turn, you take it in a timely fashion.
Book should be shipped within one week of the close of the swap.
Personal contact information must be exchanged between the two parties involved - - privately - - in order to complete the shipping of the books. Not shipping your book is grounds for being removed as a PBT member (holy smokes I seriously hope I never actually have to implement that!).
