All right, so I have this group right now, but my issue with it is that the active people .......are not especially advanced...? Juvenile writers, would be another way to put it. Also, seeing how people haven't been active, a definite plot is not even an option at the moment.

That sounds good. I'm in. :) There would be a longtime planning, and member gathering though. Gotta pick the real active ones. :P
HmmmmMy idea is a New Age Hogwarts
Hogwarts: New Age
whatever along the lines of that.
Hogwarts rp's are sooo many and generic. I think we should broaden the horizon more. Timeline, too, has to be unique.
War time or anything akin to that. The subjects should be changed a bit too, so it would be 'new'. And classes should also be held to keep members active. And etttcc
Yeah, a couple generations after the golden trio? Things have been super peaceful but now something's brewing? Buildup throughout the first few years maybe, and then we could get to full-out war? Perhaps knowledge of the wizarding world is now widely spread among the Muggles? Or... What else could we use, I'm sure there's tons out there. Maybe some students are trying to resurrect Voldemort or an ex-teacher (or maybe current) is starting on a trend, to purge the world of Muggles and Squibs? Off the top my head, that's what I've got.
lol. I got a whisp of other universes and worlds where magic isn't limited and witches and wizards aren't the only characters you can make so yeah... Hogwarts constricts me I think
Anyway... I think I gotta go for now. This isn't my usual rp time, you see. But go ahead and post all your ideas here. (or in the other thread)I'm sure everyone, including me, would love to read it. Goodluck for now.
Even though I like HP, I find that those groups lack plotlines to move things along, but I did have a character that I really liked and never got to rp 'cause the HP group I joined, died.
Yeah, I'd be interested in doing a well structured HP group, the ones I join always end up dying early on.

I'm thinking I'll create a private group and start setting things up and planning things out. I'm just not ready to give up on this (a Hogwarts roleplay) yet. It probably wouldn't get started for a while, but I want to be able to see some of my ideas in an organized forum. And I'd be happy to let some of you guys join if you wanted to aid in the process.

I'm thinking we could rp through the first few years quickly? Maybe a few big events like the opening feast and Halloween or if there are some key moments for developing relationships that we want, but then mostly just skipping through their younger years?
Cause I want to give characters the chance to develop and let relationships build a little more naturally? But depending on our plotline that could change, so I won't say that an older starting age is completely out of the question.
I like that idea, I don't like roleplaying younger kids but those first few years are really important for HP just with the setup of the school.
I think you should still rp the childhood moments, but perhaps you should create it as a separate folder specifically meant for those times and have the main rp focused with the present, older age. Of course, that is up to you, but I'm sure there are some characters that never interacted with others when they were younger.
I'm thinking not everyone would interact with everyone, but hopefully they'd at least interact with a few others here and there, and that would hopefully be enough basis for a little bit of writing in the younger years.
So then if someone wants to rp, they have to interact with someone for those younger years? Otherwise I think people will die off because they probably want to focus on the older years.
Ji Mei ^_^ wrote: "So then if someone wants to rp, they have to interact with someone for those younger years? And it will make it that much stronger a story by the time we get into the heart of the plot.
I suppose that depends on the plot. I know that are some stories that are very strong that have events happen in a story in a span of a few weeks while some others span years.
So then, what is the plot your thinking of and how are we contributing? I'm trying to to sound rude or anything, I promise, but I thought that you might be looking for a group that we come up with a plot together? Or perhaps you are looking for other rpers to partake in your ideas?
I'm hoping to come up with a plot together, it's just my preference that it be one that overarches multiple years.
A challenge! ^_^ I haven't been in groups with a plot like that so that will be interesting. And I just realized I made a typo... Whoops!
Hmmm... I'm wondering what would span over the years and specifically affects students. Perhaps a growing cult of dark wizards or maybe some corruption among the Ministry. Perhaps something involving muggles or a new illness involving magic is rising.
Okay, I'm just gonna type out the random idea I had (while doing dishes) here so that I don't have to check my phone since I can't really during work: I was thinking that we should do a HP RP with 7th years only (maybe 6th years too) and that there would be a murder mystery involved. Instead of starting the game on the train or in Diagon Alley though, we should start it like a week or two before their Christmas break.
Haha no way! You hadn't even seen this yet??This isn't quite the detailed rp I want to do but I would love to do this in addition, whether I create the group, you do, or someone else entirely does.
I swear it was totally beforehand but only like 30 minutes after I texted you, I checked my group invites! XD
