Dan | 1595 comments I've just posted our first video for this group. It is one of the most famous Surrealist films of all time. Not for the faint of heart. PG-13 rating at minimum.

Ed Erwin Where did you post it? I don't see it.

Doesn't much matter to me as I've seen it before several times. I don't really like it much, but I like that it was trying to be weird.

Dan | 1595 comments From our group's homepage you can click on videos and it's linked there. I also found an unsubtitled complete version at Open Culture with commentary: http://www.openculture.com/2011/06/un...

I like this film more than I should, I suppose. I couldn't take my eyes away, in any event. The music score by Wagner really goes with the film well also.

Darkling Daath (darklingdaath) Heyyy that’s one of the greatest films ever made! Why I missed this thread???

Dan | 1595 comments I just tried the link and it still works from my location here in South Carolina. From the page the link brings up I just click on the arrow. Boy, that is a weird film!

Mr. James | 26 comments Cool! It works! From here... I'll watch it later when I'm awake, no doubt I miss something if I don't.

However it doesn't work from the main page, which is where I originally went. Go to videos and you'll see.

Afterthought: The group avatar picture: Who is it? I liked the previous one better. So I'll ask the same except in past tense: Who was it?

Dan | 1595 comments I saw the YouTube video no longer works from the video page. So I posted a comment for people to still be able to find the film.

The group avatar photo gets changed every month to the author of the group read. I try to find a photo that shows the age of the writer at about the time of the work, but here that's not an issue since we are reading an Algernon Blackwood story collection this month, and those span his working life.

Mr. James | 26 comments That makes sense, thanks. Blackwood looks pretty dashing in the profile picture that pops up when you Google his name.

Mr. James | 26 comments Huh... That made my 2 hour delay and Christmas Eve. The opening made my eye twitch, and the fact it was made in 1929 is awesome. The groping scene simultaneously made me laugh and feel repulsed. The ending worked.
