Roald Dahl is an author to many great books like James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and BFG just to name a few. His books are full of imagination, life lessons, and discovery. Roald Dahl experience war, travel, and interesting people. https://www.roalddahl.com/create-and-... Before reading the book, I would like the students to listen to a recording of Roald Dahl and the power of writing. The students will write down what they think the book is about just base on the cover and the recording. After we finish the book, we will relisten to the recording and analyze what the students wrote before. Was the book as what they expected? Do you believe that his life experience helped him in his career as an author? My idea behind this lesson is the students will learn that their life experience can have a great impact on their writing. Students will compare and contrast Roald Dahl to themselves. Students can include what has happened to them and their future plans as an adult. Materials: markers, pencils, tape Scaffolding: teacher will have an example of Venn- diagram for all students to view, teacher will also walk around asking students questions about work, students will share Venn-diagram to group.
