2025 & 2026 Reading Challenge discussion

I started reading this last night.
Knowing that it's so much shorter than the other books in the series, however, makes it hard for me to stay focused, haha.

I started last night as well, and will finish it probably tonight 🙈

So there are a couple more mistborn stories in the unbound collection that are pretty short. One is the eleventh metal. Should we read This month these as well.? They are only 20-25 pages each.

I read Elantris first because the Hope of Elantris short story was written later.
Besides Secret History, Eleventh Metal and Allomancer Jak are the only other Mistborn-related novellas. If Scott and Ilona want to read and discuss them, I will read them, too.

So are we reading this story from the Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere collection. Maybe the secret history is available elsewhere that doesn’t have the other Mistborn stories?

If you have the Arcanum Unbounded, you'll also have Empire of the Soul and Edgedancer for next year. It's up to you.

I have a question about something the author mentions at the end.

I remember Sazed's presence as Harmony in Mistborn 4-6, but I can't remember anything about Kelsier.
Can one of you please refresh my memory? (hide spoiler)]

I just have Secret History as a single ebook, but I'll try to get my hands on a copy of Arcanum Unbounded.

Here's more on that question of the Wax & Wayne trilogy + Kelsier.
(view spoiler)[I could not for the life of me remember any references to Kelsier from Books 4-6. Not at all.
So I googled and found this page from the very thorough and helpful Copperminds website. I checked the footnotes for the Kelsier page and it doesn't refer to anything we haven't read already (but, Scott, it includes a Secret History reference, but you wouldn't be reading this until after you finished Secret History, haha).
Anyway, I found a lot of information about Kelsier that I had completely forgoten. I'm ashamed of myself, hehe.

Ok I finished the 11th metal. It was okay but written more as an introduction to the series so not really exciting if you have already finished the series.

The other short mistborn story in the collection before the secret history is more geared towards people that have already the series. I enjoyed it more than the first. It's called something the adventures of allomancer jak. Both stories are only about 25 pages each. Anyways on to read the secret history.

The secret history is taking awhile because I keep referring back to the other mistborn books. Here is a question in a spoiler (view spoiler)[when kelsier grabbed preservation's hand to stab Elend was Kelsier really being controlled by Ruin? Wouldn't just doing nothing been better. A few pages before Presevation told Kelsier someone would have to take the power then release it to release Ruin. This is exactly what Vin after triggered by the stabbing to save Elend. But wouldn't Vin and Elend just have eventually left without the stabbig? I probably need to reread some of the well of ascension to see the other point of view (hide spoiler)]

I wish I had waited to buy my copies now.

I finally got my hands on a copy of Arcanum Unbouded, so I'll be reading the short stories soon!

I found the first one a bit boring, but the second one was okay.

There were some characters from other parts of the cosmere in the secret history. I’m sure their stories are told elsewhere. Or will be in the future. It’s pretty cool what Sanderson is doing. Hopefully we will read the rest of the collection as we read the main stuff in 2020
