Friends from boarding school Isa (who tells the story), Fatima and Thea are summoned by Kate after a bone is found in The Reach. While at school the four played a game where they lied to everyone except the four members of their group. Since they were expelled they have been hiding a terrible secret (not really the secret is pretty boring and takes forever to be revealed). I found the main character annoying, she treats her partner like complete crap and doesn't let him do anything with his own child (there is also way too much of a focus on the baby Freya, I got sick of hearing about her). The only character I actually liked was Fatima. The book is boring and repetitive with very little suspense, definitely a disappointment.

Yikes! Ware can be hit or miss for me and I think timing, my mood, and atmosphere contribute to my enjoyment. I did not like In a Dark, Dark Wood, but I loved The Death of Mrs. Westaway.
I've heard several friends comment that Lying Game is bad - boring, poorly written, etc. I haven't read it yet but it's sitting in one of my TBR piles so I will. Probably. It was published very soon after her first 2 books - I'm wondering if it was an earlier effort that never saw the light of day until her first 2 books were so successful? That it's her 'real' first novel? Dan Brown experienced that -- after DaVinci code a couple of his books were published that no one wanted to touch previously. And they were NOT good.

I think I will skip this one for now.
