Hello! I am June, and am the Moderator of this shiny new Goodreads page dedicated to the wonderful novels of Anthony Powell.
I am currently in my third year of a part-time PhD at the University of Edinburgh; my thesis focuses on the landscape and buildings in Powell's Dance novels and the ways they provide a commentary on the changing face of Britain during the decades over which the novels were written. I am also a member of the Anthony Powell Society, whose webpage I have linked within this group.
Please feel free to leave a short introduction. I hope you find this page a pleasant place to be, and I look forward to hearing from you all.

David | 7 comments David Hallett of Newfoundland here. About to begin re-reading Dance for the 61st time—once for every year I’ve been alive. I start on my birthday (2 November) and finish on AP’s birthday (21 December). A ritual for many years.

M P | 1 comments Hi, I started reading Anthony Powell's Dance after reading Spurling's biography on Powell and the Backlisted podcast on Books Do Furnish A Room on Christmas 2018. I set myself the task to read one volume per month this year and I am on track. I am undertaking a doctoral research too and I see my research issues through Powell's lens even if he isn't obviously relevant to my work.

Thank you, June, for starting this group. I've just concluded "The Acceptance World" and am savoring every moment. On to Book 4. . .

Charlotte M. | 1 comments Hello, I am Charlotte fromm Munich, Germany, age 71, so I read and have been reading Powell for the past 5 years for sheer pleasure and delight. Was made aware of The Dance and Powell by a review of its German version (newly, first time?) published at at that time. Started reading the original English (and all his other novels) and have never stopped since.
How does this group work?
