After a highly delayed flight I have finally taken off with:1. Oceania/Australia: Australia - The Dressmaker by Rosalie Ham (22/09/09)
Next I'm off to Poland with The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
I too have created a map found here:
Tanya's Around the World in 80 Books Map
17. North America: Mexico - Like Water for Chocolate A Novel in Monthly Installments with Recipes, Romances, and Home Remedies by Laura Esquivel (31/10/09)
33. Europe: Greenland - Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg (27/12/09)I have decided to claim this novel as Greenland. A lot of the action also takes place in Denmark.
US States BonusUnfortunately my first US book read for this challenge was set in Washington DC so it wont count for this bonus! However I have now properly kicked off with:
1. Virginia - Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson (29/12/09)
I have also created a new google map to keep track of my US States found here
Tanya's US States Map
I don't know whether I will complete this bonus but since I read something that counted I felt I may as well record it!
36. Middle East: Saudi Arabia - Princess: True Story of Life Behind the Veil in Saudi Arabia by Jean P. Sasson (07/01/10)
US States BonusTanya's US States Map
1. Virginia - Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson (29/12/09)
2. California - The Book of Dead Birds: A Novel by Gayle Brandeis (15/01/10)
I had hoped that this book would count for Korea, however with only around 1/5 of the book taking place there I have decided I had best put it as California instead.
Everyone who buys gas i should read 'Princess' It's enough to make you want run your car on peanut butter rather than support such insanity.
40. Middle East: Qatar - Al Jazeera by Hugh Miles (03/02/10)This book covers the recent history of various countries in the Middle East. However this is covered through the story of the Qatari TV channel Al-Jazeera, so I am claiming this as Qatar.
41. Europe: Bulgaria - The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova (11/02/10)This book zigzags all across Europe (plus America), however the most significant portion takes place in Bulgaria.
43. Asia: Burma - The Jewel Trader of Pegu: A Novel by Jeffrey Hantover (15/02/10)(NOTE for Diane: You already have me showing as 43 on the Readerboard as I made a typo when listing my number 41 (oops!) so you wont have to update me for this one :) Thanks!)
