Yep. :-) And since I'm reading it along with THE WITCHING HOUR, I'm glad it is. I may have to do a marathon read.

I absolutely loved The Witching Hour. I think it ties with Interview as her best book. She was certainly a master of her craft at that time.

I'm enjoying it very much Kandice. I'm not crazy about the narrator of the audio book. But you're right. Rice is a powerful and talented author.

I think I saw that you prefer to listen to the audio. I'm quite impressed that you can listen to both at the same time. You d..."
I usually read one book late at night and listen to another while I'm jogging or driving. But Witching Hour is so long, I'm listening to it all the time. Since I've already read and listened to THINNER, I'm getting to it any way I can, which means through both media.

The movie adaptation is godawful. It came out as comical instead of being more sinister like in the book. But that's typical for a lot of the King movie adaptations. In the movie you just don't get a sense of Halleck 'wasting away' like is described in the book. And all of the acting was just terrible. A remake could be beneficial with better CGI effects if done correctly.

I have finished my read of this month's King book - "Thinner" - and have posted my review on the following page for those interested in reading it:

Although it's spoiler free, if you haven't finished your read, you may want to do so first.
To great reading and best wishes,
Scott

Great job, Scott, a terrific review that offers just enough of the plot to catch our interest and enough historical background and opinion to put it in context with King's other books, and let us know that it's a pretty decent piece of work. THANK.

Bill when thinking about cancer after his wife brings it up in the car ride back from Mohonk. I'd be curious to know if King had already starting writing IT when he wrote this line.

This is my first time reading the novel, however, but again, because I saw the film, I knew the overall plot of the story.
I thought it was an enjoyable novel. The overall plot and idea has a very careful what you wish for creepy vibe feel. Granted the idea of Gypsy curses is stereotypical, but like a lot of King stories, this is clearly done in the vein of the supernatural, so it works here.
The inner thoughts of Billy as he was wasting away were intense, the character of Ginelli was interesting to say the least, and while I know how the story ended, it's still a gut wrenching to end the story.
Overall, a quick, but worthwhile and entertaining read.
