Karen | 351 comments Happy November All !
This month we will be reading Tania's choice of Greenbanks by Dorothy Whipple.
Greenbanks published in 1932 is Dorothy Whipple's third novel.
Hope you can join me this month.
Best Wishes Karen and Gina

Susan | 236 comments I read this a few years ago, and it’s my favorite of the books of hers I’ve read. I love the flashes of humor, and have one particular favorite passage I’ll share under finishing thoughts section.

Toast (hotbutteredtoast) | 55 comments I loved it the first time I read it a few years ago now. So, when I picked it up to read again I was quite excited. However, I haven't felt quite the same buzz. This beautiful writing is working its socks off in front of my eyes and ........ nothing is happening. I have to admit I'm under the weather at the mo but even the brilliant DW isn't hitting the notes for me. Mind you its still only early doors so fingers crossed.
Toast.
How's everyone else doing?

Veronique | 90 comments Should be starting next Monday - lots planned (too much?). And we’re getting a puppy, so...

Toast - how you feel has totally an effect on what you read, whether in a positive manner or indeed the reverse. I’ll be crossing fingers for you :O)

Hi Toast, I'm starting this one soon and looking forward to it. I think most people who read a book second time round don't get the same buzz. To be fair, Dorothy Whipple's books aren't highly plot driven but she still remains Persephone's best selling author.

I'm looking forward to this one too. I'm feeling a bit swamped at the moment, books needing to go back to the library etc, but will get to it as soon as I can.

Books and people are funny things - ever evolving. That's their U. S. P. I guess.

Karen | 351 comments Enjoying this so far.
Reminds me a bit of They Were Sisters

Karen, I'm also enjoying this one. At the beginning I was a bit worried that Ambrose was going to be another Geoffrey, from They Were Sisters, fortunately he is not as bad as that.

I love Dorothy Whipple's sense of humour and it's always a pleasure reading her books.
