I have not read anything by Sam J. Miller before. The premise sounds strange. While the plot is not the same, the bizarreness reminds me of The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza, which I read for another book club earlier this year. I am intrigued by the message about the life-saving power of friendship and by the LGBT genre tag.
