I have not read anything by Emily Lloyd-Jones. However, I heard her speak on a panel about YA horror novels earlier this year and became interested in reading her work. I did not think zombies were my thing until I read Dread Nation. Since historical fiction was also a popular Goodreads tag for this novel, I am hoping the novel will give me Dread Nation vibes.
I've read books by Lloyd-Jones in the past and liked them. I gave Illusive 3 stars and The Hearts We Sold 3.5 stars. When it comes to The Bone Houses, I admit that I've had my eye on this one for a while... ever since the cover came out, anyway. I mean, look at it! It's beautiful and creepy and I would likely read this book for the cover alone.
Furthermore, while I don't hate zombie stories, I wouldn't consider myself a zombie fanatic. I've read a handful of books featuring them (I even have a shelf for it. No surprise to those that know me; Goodreads shelves have given me an outlet for my frantic need to categorize.) and have found that if they're done in a fashion outside the box, I tend to enjoy them a lot more. I have high hopes for this novel, and only hope that my own expectations don't cause me to dislike it.

Emily Lloyd-Jones has several novels under her belt, but her newest is supposed to be a wonderful mixing of horror and fantasy. Featuring a family of gravediggers and the undead, The Bone Houses should be an interesting read!
