Last Saturday I attended a training on Buddhist Psychology with Jack Kornfield. As a Buddhist and a psychologist I hung on every word. During this wonderful presentation interspersed with meditation sittings, Jack recommended Bessel van der Kolk's book, The Body Keeps Score, and he spoke approvingly of EMDR. I will be reading this soon.

The body keeps the score what a great insightful book on how trauma is manifested in so many ways and how to release it
Excellent book. Van der Kolk knows trauma. EMDR therapy is well worth being trained in. The most effective trauma treatment in my practice.
I found this book through a reference from Brene Brown. It was extremely helpful to understand trauma.
I read this book many years ago and then picked it up again as I was finishing up my memoir. It helped me make sense of the trauma I experienced as a child/adolescent and how it affected my mind and body many years later. The body truly does keeps score. I have been through EMDR therapy and am ever so grateful!
A must read for anyone trying to understand trauma and it’s affects.
