Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Please update with a better resolution cover found on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.es/EL-P%C3%81JARO-...

message 2: by Beth (new)

Beth (coffee114) | 227 comments Done

message 3: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Thank you, Beth!

message 4: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (livka) | 7926 comments Source does not list ISBN, so there is no way to confirm which edition it belongs to.
Cover change reverted

message 5: by Javier (last edited Nov 05, 2019 08:58AM) (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments ??? What are you talking about? Can't you see it is the same cover cropped? This is absurd and some librarians are getting crazy with rules. Seriously.

message 6: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments And by the way, this is the ONLY edition in Spanish. You can check ISBN official website.

message 7: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (livka) | 7926 comments That really does not matter, and I'm not making the rules. Please feel free to contact support if you wish:
https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...

message 8: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Here with ISBN.
https://www.amazon.es/EL-PAJARO-BURLO...

Please re-update the cover as you can see it's the correct one.

And by the way I'm not saying the rules are wrong, just the way some of you are applying them lately. Obviously with no idea.

Olivia (livka) | 7926 comments Javier wrote: "Here with ISBN.

I don't think that this angled cover is better than the one currently listed.

message 11: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments You can see it's exactly the same cover I sent first. Now you have a source that tells you that's the correct cover for this book and matches ISBN so please use the first cover I sent.

message 12: by Olivia (last edited Nov 05, 2019 07:17AM) (new)

Olivia (livka) | 7926 comments I'll let someone else take over this discussion.

message 13: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Someone else, please?

message 14: by Emily (new)

Emily | 17656 comments I looked on Abebooks and there's a cover but it is blurry. You can scan or take a picture of your own cover and add it to your profile pictures where we can get it. You can also look on this list of acceptable sources and search.
https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...

If you would like to talk to someone about librarians not applying the rules as you see them, then you have to contact Support (link in message 7). No one in this group can apply or interpret the rules differently.

message 15: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments If you're accepting the current cover is right, I'm only sending the same image so I can't understand why you don't accept it even when posting several valid sources. I could have just created a new book but instead I try to do things properly. So yeah, just uploaded the first image I posted here to my profile and now you can take it. Please.

https://images.gr-assets.com/photos/1...

Thanks in advance.

message 16: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments How many people do we need to solve this?

message 17: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Hello. Is there any problem now?

message 18: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16369 comments Javier wrote: "Hello. Is there any problem now?"

Yes, the problem is that you just uploaded the image from the first link to your profile, which we cannot use because it doesn't have an ISBN listed.

Instead, Emily asked you to make a scan or take a photo of your own cover (if you have this edition in your possession).

message 19: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Look I have the book in my hands and I don't know why I should scan the cover because it's just THE SAME.

message 20: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16369 comments Well, then you are the one with obviously no idea.

It is policy to only use covers if we can ascertain it is the same edition. The ISBN is not mentioned in the first link, so we cannot ascertain it is the same edition.

You may find that ludicrous, but it's the policy. Take it or leave it.

message 21: by Javier (last edited Nov 05, 2019 03:03PM) (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments The current cover (the one that was uploaded before I started this thread) is the same I'm trying to send. I'm only sending it in better quality, because the "approved" one its just a photo, not even a scan.

message 22: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Here, uploaded right now by myself.

https://images.gr-assets.com/photos/1...

ENJOY.

message 23: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments And once more, only for refreshing:

Here with ISBN.
https://www.amazon.es/EL-PAJARO-BURLO...

A valid source that shows the cover I'm trying to send for hours is exactly THE SAME.

message 24: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments I've done what you asked for and you still not updating the cover. I assume you simply don't want to do it.

Goodreads Librarians are volunteers, and some requests may take some time to get a reply. If a day or two have gone by with no reply, it's fine to bump your request up by responding to your own thread.

message 26: by Emily (new)

Emily | 17656 comments Is the latest picture you uploaded a photo of *your* physical book? Or is it another image from a website?

message 27: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Look, I'm tired of this. Do what you consider better. I've uploaded a lot ot books and always tried to help the Community. In fact most of you have approved my requests many times and I can just say thank you for that. I've been librarian as well and know very well this is a voluntary work but sadly some people take it in a bad way.

message 28: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Thank you, gracias, dziękuję bardzo.

On Goodreads, maintaining Librarian status is dependent on following our policies. Which includes only using cover images from certain sources. Goodreads Librarians who fail to follow our policies tend to find that they do not remain Goodreads Librarians.

Which is why the Goodreads Librarians in this thread who have been attempting to help are asking for the source of your images.

message 30: by Emily (new)

Emily | 17656 comments Javier wrote: "Well, ignoring my request you show what really matters: your own ego instead of Community."

Then if it is not your picture, we cannot upload it.

I was trying to help. You will get help more easily by contacting Support if you have a problem with how the librarians are applying the rules. People are more likely to ignore your request if you are rude or insulting.

As I posted yesterday:

Here, uploaded right now by myself.

Javier wrote: "As I posted yesterday:

Which still does not say what the source of the image is. Is it a photo or scan you created using a book in your possession, or did you download the image from a website and then upload it here?

message 33: by Emily (new)

Emily | 17656 comments As I posted earlier:

Your reply:
Look, I'm tired of this. Do what you consider better.

So you can see why reposting the link from before, with no explanation or answer, is not helpful.

I recommend you contact Support or find a copy of the book to take a picture of or search through the databases of the acceptable sources.

message 34: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments It's my book. I will upload a new photo holding my book and smiling if you want.

Anyway, could you please explain me this? I'm curious about it:

https://www.amazon.es/EL-PAJARO-BURLO...
(Here the book cover matching ISBN).

https://www.amazon.es/EL-P%C3%81JARO-...
(Here the same cover, also from Amazon).

If it's the same cover and both are from Amazon, I can't understand why you don't accept it. Sorry but it's just crazy!

The thing is, different editions can have the same cover. As we have said before, we can only use cover images if we are sure they belong to the same edition. Therefore, the image without ISBN cannot be used, because it may belong to a different edition.

As I also mentioned ISBN database (listed by Goodreads as a valid source) where you can check this is the only edition published in Spain. So there is no risk of making a mistake.

message 37: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments By the way there is no way to send a picture of my own book showing the cover and the ISBN at the same time so I could cheat and spread evil all over Goodreads.

message 38: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Hello...

message 39: by rivka, Former Moderator (new)

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
You have refused to clarify the source of the image and stated your willingness to ignore Goodreads policy.

message 40: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16369 comments And you have also failed to mention that you added a duplicate when we didn't respond quickly enough to your liking (even though you knew that is not the proper way to do things), thereby creating a lot of extra work.

message 41: by Javier (last edited Nov 07, 2019 12:29PM) (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments ??? I posted it's my book. Seriously you are going too far with me.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 42: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16369 comments You have been very evasive, though. You never actually said "yes, this is my own cover photo (or scan)."

message 43: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments "It's my book. I will upload a new photo holding my book and smiling if you want."

What do you want from me? It's my photo.

message 44: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Yes, this is my own cover photo. Please update cover:

https://images.gr-assets.com/photos/1...

message 45: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments I'm gently requesting to update book cover, sharing a photo of my own book taken by myself. Again I feel ignored by librarians and I don't know what do you really want from me.

message 46: by Anne-Lise (new)

Anne-Lise (dlivrez-nous) | 98 comments Hello,

please update the cover for this book:
Dieu-qui-parle

message 47: by Scott (new)

Scott | 9706 comments Anne-Lise wrote: "Hello,

Cover added.

message 48: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Scott, could you also please replace the cover I'm requesting? Thanks in advance.

message 49: by Javier (new)

Javier (yabier) | 76 comments Here, some additional photos of my own copy:

Please update book cover.

message 50: by Emily (new)

Emily | 17656 comments Javier wrote: "I'm gently requesting to update book cover, sharing a photo of my own book taken by myself. Again I feel ignored by librarians and I don't know what do you really want from me."

Next time just answer the question rather than making rude comments, and people will be much more likely to fulfill your requests.
Someone uploaded a cover but it was not the one you provided, so I reverted that and added the one from message 45.
