Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Here you can ask questions, chat, or talk about anything you want. Feel free to share your struggles, talk about things like books, movies, your faith, etc. etc. Remember to follow the guidelines and have fun!

message 2: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) I'll start.
Does anyone else have the fear of becoming an unloving Christian? You know like those people who say they love God and others, but lead unloving lives. They're hypocrites, and I feel like I could easily step into that sin. Without love, Christianity is violent, harsh, cruel, and unloving. God is all about love. The Bible even says "God is love" very clearly. I do not want to become a person who forgets it.

message 3: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (thesarahphillips) This is a struggle I tend to have, so I try to keep it in check. I wouldn't say I fear it, but it is hard for me to love others at times! =) So, know you are not alone in this specific area! It hurts me when I see others not loving each other, and that really serves as a reminder that I should do my part and love everyone.

message 4: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Yeah, I guess it's more of a fear for me because I feel like I could fall into that very easily. I know that with God's help I can succeed. I should try to worry about it less and pray about it more!

message 5: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Who here watches or has watched the show Duck Dynasty?

message 6: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (Swimchickhg) | 26 comments Mod
I used to love that show, but I feel like this new season is so terribly staged. I love that they praise God and pray at the end of every show, but he rest is just kinda meh to me. Do you watch it?

message 7: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) I agree, I haven't seen much of the new season, but I really liked the old ones before they seemed staged. I like how they kept their beliefs, even while they were threatened to be kicked of the show. You should read some of their books, they're very inspiring, and it's interesting to hear about their lives before the business.

message 8: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) So yes, I do watch it. ;)

message 9: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Who here is excited about Christmas?!! I know I am!! :D

message 10: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (Swimchickhg) | 26 comments Mod
I'm super excited!! I'm just hoping it comes slower, because otherwise I'll blink and it'll be 364 days until Christmas again.

message 11: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Yeah, I like when you take the time to enjoy it. I try not to over anticipate or even think about it to much, that way I enjoy it all the more when it comes. :)

message 12: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments I'm really excited! I'm giving Do Hard Things, Start Here, and Counted Worthy to my cousin for Christmas. I love them all so much!

message 13: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Those are all really great books, especially for gifts!

message 14: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) So what did everyone do for Christmas and New Years?

message 15: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (siobhanpatricia) I don't know about you tamara, well, actually I do, but I did the same thing you did! Lol :P

message 16: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Haha!! Well, I think that question is a little awkward to answer now since Christmas is so long gone. ;)

message 17: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) What do you all think about group book discussions?

message 18: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments I love group book discussions. :) as long as I've read the book! Currently, I'm reading "Do You Think I'm Beautiful?" By Angela Thomas, "North and South" by Elizabeth Gaskell, The Bible, and I have probably 15 to-be-read books by my bed. I would read more if I could. And I wish that all books were free.

message 19: by Tamara (last edited Feb 08, 2015 04:06PM) (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Okay, well I was thinking about maybe starting one if anyone was interested. I'm not sure how many people will participate though. I too wish all books were free, but unfortunately that's not the way things are. Do you have a kindle or amazon account? You can get books pretty cheap that way, sometimes even free! :D

message 20: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments Cool, what kind of books were you thinking?
I have a kindle, yes. And I've gotten some books very cheaply there too. It's always a struggle for me to find good clean books though. I know of many fantasy books that are good, but I'm not really into fantasy as much as dystopia, historical fiction, Christian fiction, etc.

message 21: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Well, I really wanted to do a book discussion on Counted Worthy. I think some of us have read it already. I can totally relate to the trouble with finding good, clean, Christian books. I like fantasy though, and there seems to be a lot more in that category.

message 22: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments Yes yes yes yes yes! Counted Worthy for the win!

message 23: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) I think that would be an awesome book to discuss since it's so great! :D

message 24: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments I know! #favoritebook

message 25: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Do you have any other ideas for books we could do?

message 26: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments Christian books, yes?

message 27: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Yes, if you have any in mind. :)

message 28: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments I liked Twice Freed by Patricia St. John. And obviously Do Hard Things. For fiction, I liked October Baby by Eric Wilson. Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton. Here I Stand by Roland Bainton. There's probably more that I can think of later.

message 29: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Ooh, those are some good ones. Thanks! :)

message 30: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments I really liked Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis too. And Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde had a Christian world view which was pretty cool. I read that last year.

message 31: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) I still haven't read Mere Christianity, but I want to! :)

message 32: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments It's really good!

message 33: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Have you read The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis? We have a discussion going on that book and some of his other works.

message 34: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments I haven't actually. But I'm reading The Abolition Of Man later this school year.

message 35: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) I haven't read that either. Have you read his Space Trilogy? I didn't really like them that much unfortunately. :(

message 36: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 18 comments No, I haven't. What's your favorite book/series?

message 37: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Well my favorite book is Prophet by Frank Peretti, and my favorite series is The Blood of Kings by Jill Williamson. I like a lot of books though, so I wouldn't say those are my only favorites. ;) What about you? What are your favorites?

message 38: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Hi!!! How is everyone?

message 39: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Hi Gabriela!!!! I'm doing great!! What's new?

message 40: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) I'm reading a few books. Moby Dick, The Kings Scrolls, and The Red Badge of Courage. Whwt are you reading?

message 41: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Haha, I can relate!!
I liked Entwined, it was entertaining. I personally don't prefer that genre, but it was better than I expected. It was the first true fairytale retelling I've read, it made me want to read the fairytale it was based on. I don't know which one it was. Do you?
How did you like it?

message 42: by Leah (new)

Leah Yo yo! What do I say??
(sorry, I can get crazy at times)

message 43: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Who am I seeing, who am I seeing?? (Me too...oh and sorry everyone else, it's an inside joke). ;)

message 44: by Leah (new)

Leah Ha ha! =)

message 45: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) So, does anyone have an interest in being a mod for this group? Just thought I should ask. ;)

message 46: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Oh, that's fine. I totally understand!! :)

message 47: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Yeah, me too!! *Waves back* I guess we'll never know what really happened. :(

Are you still looking for a mod?

message 49: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Yes! I messaged the other mod but she hasn't gotten back to me. I think you would be a great choice I just don't want to do anything until she knows. If she doesn't message me soon, I'll go ahead and make you a mod. :)
