I'll start. Does anyone else have the fear of becoming an unloving Christian? You know like those people who say they love God and others, but lead unloving lives. They're hypocrites, and I feel like I could easily step into that sin. Without love, Christianity is violent, harsh, cruel, and unloving. God is all about love. The Bible even says "God is love" very clearly. I do not want to become a person who forgets it.
This is a struggle I tend to have, so I try to keep it in check. I wouldn't say I fear it, but it is hard for me to love others at times! =) So, know you are not alone in this specific area! It hurts me when I see others not loving each other, and that really serves as a reminder that I should do my part and love everyone.
Yeah, I guess it's more of a fear for me because I feel like I could fall into that very easily. I know that with God's help I can succeed. I should try to worry about it less and pray about it more!
I used to love that show, but I feel like this new season is so terribly staged. I love that they praise God and pray at the end of every show, but he rest is just kinda meh to me. Do you watch it?
I agree, I haven't seen much of the new season, but I really liked the old ones before they seemed staged. I like how they kept their beliefs, even while they were threatened to be kicked of the show. You should read some of their books, they're very inspiring, and it's interesting to hear about their lives before the business.
I'm super excited!! I'm just hoping it comes slower, because otherwise I'll blink and it'll be 364 days until Christmas again.
Yeah, I like when you take the time to enjoy it. I try not to over anticipate or even think about it to much, that way I enjoy it all the more when it comes. :)
I'm really excited! I'm giving Do Hard Things, Start Here, and Counted Worthy to my cousin for Christmas. I love them all so much!
Haha!! Well, I think that question is a little awkward to answer now since Christmas is so long gone. ;)
I love group book discussions. :) as long as I've read the book! Currently, I'm reading "Do You Think I'm Beautiful?" By Angela Thomas, "North and South" by Elizabeth Gaskell, The Bible, and I have probably 15 to-be-read books by my bed. I would read more if I could. And I wish that all books were free.
Okay, well I was thinking about maybe starting one if anyone was interested. I'm not sure how many people will participate though. I too wish all books were free, but unfortunately that's not the way things are. Do you have a kindle or amazon account? You can get books pretty cheap that way, sometimes even free! :D
Cool, what kind of books were you thinking?I have a kindle, yes. And I've gotten some books very cheaply there too. It's always a struggle for me to find good clean books though. I know of many fantasy books that are good, but I'm not really into fantasy as much as dystopia, historical fiction, Christian fiction, etc.
Well, I really wanted to do a book discussion on Counted Worthy. I think some of us have read it already. I can totally relate to the trouble with finding good, clean, Christian books. I like fantasy though, and there seems to be a lot more in that category.
I liked Twice Freed by Patricia St. John. And obviously Do Hard Things. For fiction, I liked October Baby by Eric Wilson. Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton. Here I Stand by Roland Bainton. There's probably more that I can think of later.
I really liked Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis too. And Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde had a Christian world view which was pretty cool. I read that last year.
Have you read The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis? We have a discussion going on that book and some of his other works.
I haven't read that either. Have you read his Space Trilogy? I didn't really like them that much unfortunately. :(
Well my favorite book is Prophet by Frank Peretti, and my favorite series is The Blood of Kings by Jill Williamson. I like a lot of books though, so I wouldn't say those are my only favorites. ;) What about you? What are your favorites?
I'm reading a few books. Moby Dick, The Kings Scrolls, and The Red Badge of Courage. Whwt are you reading?
Haha, I can relate!!I liked Entwined, it was entertaining. I personally don't prefer that genre, but it was better than I expected. It was the first true fairytale retelling I've read, it made me want to read the fairytale it was based on. I don't know which one it was. Do you?
How did you like it?
