I love a good steak or a chicken fried steak with mash potatoes. I mainly read YA and paranormal romance but I am getting into SciFic and fantasy. Right now I am reading Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo with a few other books.

Kristy Mills (kristinamills) | 2 comments Hi, my name is Kristina. But I go by Kristy.

My sign is Scorpio.

I’m from the USA. Born and raised in New York and I now live in Virginia.

My favorite food is Japanese, hibachi- which I’m not sure is true Japanese, or just Americanized Japanese. Whatever, I love it!

My favorite genre is romance. I really am not interested unless there is a love story. But if there is a love story, I will try any genre.

Growing up my mom always tried to get me interested in reading. But nothing ever caught my interest. I read a couple of the baby sitter club books, but I was only ever interested in the books that had a love story. I was usually disappointed by the LACK of love story by the end though. I should have realized sooner that that’s what I was looking for. I probably would have enjoyed reading much sooner. I absolutely loved the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, my English teacher had us read parts of the book but not the whole thing. I ended up reading it on my own after I graduated. I loved it but it was a bit of a slow burn, so it didn’t spark the love I have for reading now, it just sparked my love for P&P. Fast forward a couple years. During one of my husbands deployments to Afghanistan, I picked up Twilight. I saw the movie and wanted more. So I read the book, and then finished the series in the next couple days. I also found that the deployment went by much faster if I was living in a book. Once I realized I did love reading, and that I just needed to find the subject that interested me the most, I haven’t stopped. That’s how I got started reading. A combination of Twilight and the need to pass time quickly.

Angel Abigail (angelabigail) | 2 comments Hi, my name is Angel. People always think that Angel is some sort of nickname, but it is My real name. My middle name is Abigail, but only my former English teacher used to call me by that name.

I am 17 years old. I live in Norway, but I come from Rwanda.

My star sign is Virgo. I don’t really know what that entails.

I have always liked reading my whole life. However, it was just recently that I picked it up again, and started watching booktube and really getting invested in the reading community. Plus, my high school library is pretty great. The librarian always buys inn the newest books she finds people talking about on booktube, so good/relevant books have definitely been a motivation.

I love YA contemporary, sci-fi, and I have recently started getting into some more fantasy. (I would love some recs!)

I very excited for this group, because it’s the first group I feel that I am on time and can be active.

Hi! I'm Natalie!
Sometimes people call me Nat, and my Girl Scout camp counselor name is Panda so I guess those are my nicknames.
My star sign is Gemini
I'm from the USA
My favorite foods are probably mac and cheese, ice cream, cheese, pasta, fish and tacos. I also love any type of fruit.
My favorite genre is YA (mainly but sometimes I read other stuff too) Within YA my favorite I like mystery, some fantasy, dystopian society books, romance, and other things, depending on the book
I've been reading for as long as I can remember so I don't really have an interesting story.
Thanks for inviting me Kate!

Jennifer Wheeler Hi! Thanks for the invite!
My name is Jen, and I’m 40 years old, soon to be 41 (I guess I’ll be the “mom” of the group 😆). My astrological sign is Capricorn, but very rarely do I ever read anything describing Capricorns that actually applies to me.
I live in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
I’m happily married for just over 17yrs now; I have a 16yr old son (who also loves to read), and 2 step-sons aged 24 & 21.
I have 2 dogs and 2 cats - a Chinese Crested Powder Puff named Persephone, an English Bulldog named Freya, a Sphynx Cat named Stark, and a spotted tabby named Atlas
My favourite food is potato chips
I don’t remember a time that I didn’t love reading. As an adult I’ve become a bit of a hoarder of books, only my collection is well organized on bookshelves. I currently own over 1,100 books, over 600 of which I haven’t read yet. I just buy them much faster than I am capable of reading them 😅
I enjoy a really wide variety of genres: Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal, Dystopian/Apocalyptic, Sci-Fi, Horror/Thriller, Historical Fiction/Alternate History, Classics, New Weird, YA
The only genres I’m not at all interested in are: Nonfiction/Biographies, and pure Romance. I don’t mind Romance as long as it’s the sub-genre, eg. Paranormal Romance

Desi Hey everybody! My name is Destiney. Everyone calls me Desi. I am 28. Almost 29. I live in Colorado. My sign is Sagittarius. I love all food! I also love all genres of books! I am a sucker for Romance though. I have been reading for my whole life! I have always loved it. I recently had to go to the dark side of kindle books because my tiny apartment cant hold anymore hard copies.

Maddie (bibliophilebindings) (bibliophilebindings) | 1 comments Hello!
My name is Madeline and I am an almost 18 year old Capricorn. I live in the US and I love to read (obviously), write, bake, do arts and crafts, make things out of clay, and draw.

My favorite genres are YA fantasy (I mainly read this), paranormal, contemporary, romance, and probably more I can’t think of off the top of my head. I am starting to get into NA books, too. But basically, if it has any romance in it, no matter the amount, I will probably like it.

Some of my favorite books are The Selection, The Cruel Prince, Caraval, A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Wicked Deep, A Curse So Dark and Lonely, The City of Veils, Stalking Jack the Ripper, and most definitely more haha

My favorite authors are Kiera Cass, Stephanie Garber, Kerri Maniscalco, And Sarah J. Maas.

Feel free to message me I’d love to talk!

My favorite genres are romance, drama and young adult! I wasn't a big reader growing up, but since I'm in college it made me get back into reading lol.

message 13: by Amber (last edited Dec 31, 2019 02:58PM) (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) My name is Amber. I am 32 years old ,with autism and hail from Tennessee USA as a libra. I am the Founder and one of the moderators at the Reading for Pleasure Book Club here on Goodreads which is a book club whose sole focus is on reading for pleasure. My best friend of 20 years Leslie calls me Speedy Gonzalez Jr cuz we would always have fast walk races to the cafeteria during lunch when we were in school together but you can call me Amber, or Ambernee if you want to. Ambernee is my first name and middle name put together. my middle name is Renee (pronounced Renae) so together its Ambernee (Ambernae).

My favorite foods are pizza and pumpkin pie. My favorite author is Sherrilyn Kenyon. My favorite actors are Robert Englund and Matthew Broderick and my favorite voice actor is Vic Mignogna.

My favorite genres are paranormal romance, YA, fantasy, science fiction, horror, middle grade, women's fiction, thriller, cozy mystery, Debbie Macomber like romance, graphic novels/manga, and more. I also am starting to like classic fiction and nonfiction autobiographies too. I like any books that have a great story but will skip any scenes in books that relate to sex cuz those make me sick to my stomach, same with any rape scenes cuz I can't handle those.

I've read for pleasure since I was in the 8th grade. My first ever book series that got me into reading was the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan, The Fear Street novels by R.L. Stine, and more. Later on in my twenties I discovered Stephen King who has become one of my favorite authors with Sherrilyn Kenyon, Clive Barker and more. I love to share the books I loved to read with others with my book reviews on them and do Netgalley book reviews and indie author book reviews for goodreads too.

Thanks for adding me and hope to discover some new awesome reads and more in the future as well as do more buddy reads with others here on goodreads in the future.

andrea hartmann (andrea_h111) | 5 comments Hello. My name is Andrea but some people call me Andre. I am a teen and a Leo, however I don’t like to share my age online. I live in the United States. I love flourless chocolate cake and Caesar salad. My favorite genre is YA. I have loved to read since I was three because my parents read obsessively just like me. I look forward to partaking in this group just like the rest of you.

Kristy (lilsis2307) | 3 comments Hi everyone,

My name is Kristy, though my family calls me Kris. I'm the youngest of 4 so I've dubbed myself the 'lilsis' ;-)

I am 30 years old, live in New Hampshire, USA and I'm a Cancer.

As for books - I'll honestly read on anything (kindle, hardcover, paperback, audiobook, it doesn't matter to me), and will try any genre once. The only ones that I typically avoid is biographies and any nonfiction just because I want to use reading as an escape of reality. I keep trying to read true stories, though, and find myself not invested in the stories.

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know all of you :-)
Happy reading!

message 17: by Werner (new)

Werner My name is Werner, and I'm only here temporarily and by accident, as it were. :-) For the moment, I'm filling in as acting moderator of this group, until one of you all steps forward to volunteer to fill the vacancy. I've explained a bit more about that on this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... .

I'm 67 years old, and am a librarian in a Southern Baptist college in the mountains of southwestern Virginia. My wife and I have three daughters (all grown up and married) and six grandkids. Like Andrea (and maybe some others here), I'm a Leo; but I don't pay any attention to astrology myself. Favorite foods include brownies, watermelon, cucumbers, and lima beans. Reading has been important to me since I was a small child, and getting my first library card at age six was a landmark in my life! Probably my favorite genres are supernatural fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, historical fiction, and action adventure; but I read general fiction, nonfiction and poetry too.

This looks like a great group (it's wonderful to see so many young folks excited about reading!), and I think it has great potential. If I wasn't already in so doggone many groups (Amber and I are in two others together --hi, Amber! :-) ) I'd be tempted to stay with you all permanently!
