Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) To clarify:
1) You don't HAVE to start a new story, but you CAN if you WANT to!

2) You don't have to participate, it's optional!

3) You also don't have to share your work! (but if you do, you may post the link beside your pages written!)

4) To enter do two things:
1st, say "yes" or "maybe" on the event Thanksgiving Writathon (link: https://www.goodreads.com/event/show/...)
2nd, post this,

Day 1 25th:
Day 2 26th:
Day 3 27th:
Day 4 28th:
Day 5 29th:
Total:

5) We will update that throughout/after the writathon, whenever is best for you. Then, after waiting about a week to make sure everyone has updated theirs, we will add up the points and see how much we get!

6)It doesn't have to be a specific amount of pages, just as much as you can get done for that day!

Any questions?

I think I'll shoot for around 2,000 words in all.

Day 1 25th: 150+ words 3348 words/24 pages (this was mostly writing for school. Great timing teachers! XD)
Day 2 26th: 150+ words 1386 words/8 pages
Day 3 27th: 150+ words 1376 words/8 pages
Day 4 28th: 350+ words 1244 words/5 pages
Day 5 29th: 400+ words 1389 words/6 pages
Total: 2,000+ words 8743 words/55 pages

THAT'S A GoOD IDEA TO DO GOALS!!!!!! I LOVE IT!
But when you update the pages you've written, you can still do words, but try to include how many pages, so we can add up.

Maynerd (maynerd) | 28 comments Pro tip for all participants: If you want to make sure to reach your goal, use this desktop app called Cold Turkey Writing. You can set a goal— time or word count based— and it essentially turns your computer into a typewriter till you reach that goal. That means you can’t quit the app, you can’t open any other program. You can only write.

Ella K | 26 comments Oh. I might just use google docs and check my word count...

Maynerd (maynerd) | 28 comments Tomorrow's day one. Who's ready? :D

message 12: by Macey (new)

Macey (meesamacey) I'm glad you said something. I definitely forgot about this since I've been doing NaNo and been on their website recently. Looking forward to it!

To be fair, I'm not either. But I've got to start somewhere, haven't I?

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) WHOO! WRITATHON IN SESSION!

Do as many or little pages as possible, we're just starting out, in future writathon's, we'll try and improve from this result (if we got, as a group, 50 pages this time, next time we would try for above 50).
Have Fun! This isn't meant to be stressful, so if the only amount of pages you can do one time is anywhere from 0-10000000000, it's okay! This is just meant to make you think about writing. A time for us to progress, and write/begin those stories that have always been brewing in our minds!
To enter your pages, click edit on your post above with the dates, update the amount of pages for each day!

Maynerd (maynerd) | 28 comments Here's how my Day 1 went if anyone's curious!

I say I wrote about three pages because I didn't write everything in one page. I spent today brainstorming. I tried coming up with a draft synopsis, a one line summary, setting out a background, writing down some character dialogues that struck me in inspiration to set out the sort of tone among them and also vaguely defining my characters.
I wrote about 2000 words but a lot of it was just notes to author (me, lol) and stuff I erased, then wrote again, then erased again to rewrite in a new light, and so on...
Yes, I'm writing this story from scratch.

I hope I make it through lol, I'm so bad at committing to goals.

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) Okay, if you didn't enter your pages today, that's totally fine (and you still can ;) ) I will only add up the total pages a week after the Writathon is over! So you can post your pages anytime between now and then!

Maynerd (maynerd) | 28 comments Day Two
Not particularly brilliant. Today wasn't very good for me, not just writing-wise. I just hurriedly added words: Started on developing chapter one and, in my work notes, I tried fleshing out the main conflict.
Even though this started off more as a hurried 'I need to write, I can't fail already!' writing session, I ended up making some legit progress, however small. That's neat.

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) OKAY! The updates must be done by Friday so I can add them up!

message 20: by Nova (new)

Nova Syzygy (novatheproxy) | 366 comments Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........I forgot to count the pages, so could I just do words? I updated my word count every day for NaNoWriMo, so that should work.

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) Yeah, I suppose that if enough people do words, we can add those up instead! I guess if it's easier to do words we can do those instead.

Nova Syzygy (novatheproxy) | 366 comments Okay, cool.

Ha! That post was very redundant!

Maynerd (maynerd) | 28 comments I ended up having to travel overseas for some stuff, was too busy to write and only just got to open up my personal PC lol.
My challenge was a fail unfortunately!
Goal: 9000 words
Done: 1600 words / 4.5 pages

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) It's been a week, so I'll add up the results!

TOTAL: 23782 Words (Not all pages were included, so I just did words)

GREAT JOB EVERYONE! We set a beginning point for our writeathon's! Now we just want to beat that in the future.
