Delvin | 8 comments I've discovered a site called "The Books Machine". Is it good? Has anyone tried it out?

The site homepage says it will give authors massive publicity, for a price (monthly membership fee). It sounds very tempting. Or am I just being naive?

T.H. Hernandez (thhernandez) I don't know. $30/month seems a bit steep. At $1/book in net income, you'd need to sell 30 books per month to cover the cost, every month. If it really can boost visibility and increase sales, it might be worth it. But I think its far too soon to tell since they don't seem to be fully up and running yet.

I looked for an "About Us" link on their site to find out who's behind the site and what their credentials are, but they don't have a link.

At this point, I'd be wary.

Christian (christian_b) | 1 comments Hi Delvin and T.H

The Books Machine has currently a fee of USD 27 for 3 months membership or USD 10 only for a month.
As an author, I can say firsthand that it is worthy. I receive five requests of my books and then five honest reviews about my book.
For me what it is more interesting is the new video book trailer service that they offer to present new upcoming books in a very professional well designed way.
I hope this helps!

Best,
Christian

Arie Farnam (ArieFarnam) | 1 comments Thanks, Christian. That was excellent confirmation that one should NOT deal with this site. The post is too close to the site's advertising copy and includes similar English-as-a-Second-language expressions as does the site. Any site that would claim to be reputable for promoting books and yet not have a native English speaker editing and would employ tactics like this message is definitely one to stay away from.
