This is when I know its nearly the end of the year, all the 'best of' awards start asking for votes!

I usually don't vote unless there's a book or an author that I really like nominated.

Have you voted this year? Any standouts in the nominations?

message 2: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments I have voted! I love these awards, it always give me some good TBR material. Honestly, this year there have been a lot of unknowns for me. I'm not sure if that's a reflection of how much I need to catch up on 2014 books or if there were just less standout books this year. My instinct is that there are less standout books. What does everyone else think?

message 3: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I voted and Dorothy must die was one I voted for.

There's definitely fewer books that have been literally everywhere this year. Often, as you said, I think we have more stand-outs. Maybe it's just me being too antisocial and not realising these things!

Roseanne | 1239 comments I voted but not on every category.

@Amber, that was a tough one! Dorothy Must Die was in the same category as Cruel Beauty I loved them both!

I voted for several-

The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches (Flavia de Luce, #6) by Alan Bradley (Mystery/Thriller)
Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels, #7) by Ilona Andrews (Fantasy)
Bird Box by Josh Malerman (Horror-in my top five for this year!)
Hollow City (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #2) by Ransom Riggs (YA Fantasy/Science Fiction)

All of these are in series I'm currently following, except for Bird Box, which is a single. These were all great books, and received solid 5 star ratings from me :)

Stephanie | 106 comments I've voted for The Silkworm (Mystery/Thriller).

I voted. But not in many categories. I don't often read what's new. I'm too old to waste my time, so I only read what I'm pretty sure will be a great read. :)

I read The Girl With All The Gifts for Karen's Bingo challenge, though. Loved it. Voted for it in its category.

message 10: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 916 comments I voted, but not in too many categories since most of them I haven't read more than a book or two in yet.

Only one book that I've read was nominated, and I didn't like that book, so... no. I had better luck with last year's - 2 books that I'd read and enjoyed were nominated, though I don't think either of them won. Maybe next year!

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I did and only one book won that I voted for and it was pigeon needs a bath
